Before leaving for Yunmeng, Wei Wuxian made a short trip to Gusu's Cloud Recesses without Wangji's knowledge. He had to get his mate a wedding gift. And what better gift could he conjure than settling the rift between Wangji and his parents.
Madam Lan became sensitive as soon as Wei Ying entered. Hearing the omega refer to her as 'Mother' made her troubled heart clench hard in her chest. All was not lost. Her husband, Lan Qinghenjun stood, ashamed, speechless and remorseful.
The omega went on his knees to pay respect but Lihua held him up by the shoulders. "Son," heaven had blessed her with the opportunity to embrace Wei Ying after so long. "Forgive us,"
"There is nothing to forgive," Wei Ying said to her, bubbling up inside with their feelings all over the place. The omega sees what had become of Lan Qinghenjun, a man who once thought he was better off dead, "You're the parents I have left. It's only fair that I ask for your blessings," said Wei Ying.
Letting go of Madam Lan, he approaches Qinghenjun, offering peace.
After many years the Senior finally listened. If it would earn him a place back in the life of his children, if it would help make up for all his bad choices, he would kiss the omega's feet. His blessings were the least of it. "You have to be at the wedding, in Yunmeng. We need you there with us," Wei Ying smiled amid a pool of tears. Qinghenjun lays a hand on the crown of Wei Ying's head and slides down to the side of his face.
"Thank you, son."

Jiang Cheng and Yanli took care of everything. The decorations, reception, the guest list and every other item befitting for a grand wedding. Their senior brother was finally getting paired with someone they approved of.
The would-be couple wanted something simple but their families would not have that. Even Yuan and Mingji were in support of a big wedding. And so Wei Ying and Lan Wangji went with the idea.
Jiang Cheng made sure his brother stayed in Yunmeng to keep the couple apart. It was nerve-racking and exciting but they took advantage of it to rekindle their desires. Lan Wangji never missed a chance to call Wei Ying or remind him how much he wanted them to be one again. And Wei Ying reciprocated his love in the same light. Wei Ying felt the pressure when he finally saw his wedding robe in its finished state. It was perfect.
Days later...
It was a calm evening- and the eve of their wedding day. Wei Ying did well to go to bed early to keep his face looking healthy: a law passed by Jiang Cheng. He turned off the lights, his phone and hid under the safety of the blanket. As the hour progressed he shifted from one position to the other, mangling the neatly laid bed and feeling every cold spot.
Out of the blue, the omega feels a tingle on his nose. An itch that followed him all over the bed. When his finger swipes at his nose it stopped but for a second. "Mnnn...," Wei Ying's eyes flutter softly. He sucks in a breath, astonished by the bright blue butterfly staring at him. The creature did not budge even as Wei Ying sat up, carefully.
Opening and closing its wings in three beats it took off through the outer room. It was odd, but Wei Ying's senses told him to follow it...so he did.
Sneaking out of his room and going down the stairs barefooted, Wei Ying lifts his head to be sure Jiang Cheng did not hear him. Instead of the main entrance, the butterfly took the back way through the kitchen. Out in the open, it beat its wings faster and Wei Ying knew to pick up the pace.
After running through the fresh-mowed lawn and jumping over the hedge. Wei Ying ended up sneaking past the reception, through a private pond and into one of the guest quarters. Sure enough, there was some interestingly well put setting waiting for him.
