Makkari - Give me a sign (pt.1)

READER PRONOUNS: HE/HIM

'M-a-k-k-a-r-i' you sign to yourself as you walk to the museum. Your heart beat worriedly as you neared, not wanting to mess up at all.

As you reach the front desk, you spy the regular you were so anxious to see. She turns and notices you, waving happily.

You wave and jog up to her. She signs something quickly but stops in her tracks, huffing annoyedly. You take a deep breath and lift your hands.

'Hello Makkari' you sign and she gasps, delighted.

'You learnt sign language?' She asks, signing slowly, and you nod.

"I wanted to surprise you." You say, and Makkari's smile gets even wider.

Suddenly, she flings her arms around your middle.

She nuzzles her nose into your chest and stays there for a few seconds. When she pulls away, her eyes are teary.

'Thank you' she signs and you smile.

'No problem' you sign back.

Three months later...

You feel a soft tap on your shoulder, so you turn around to be greeted by the sight of your lovely girlfriend, Makkari.

'Y/N' Makkari signs, 'I've been thinking about it and' she pauses, clearly nervous.

'It's ok' you sign, 'just tell me what's wrong and we can work through it together'

'I want you to meet my family' Makkari tells you. You're a little taken aback by this, because Makkari had revealed to you that she was an Eternal only a month before.

'I'd love to, but I thought you were thousands of years-" You're cut off by Makkari's quick hand movements.

'My family are the Eternals' she informs you and you let out a long 'ah' of understanding.

'Sure, I'm up for meeting superheroes' you reply and she gives you a warm smile.

Two days later...

Your plane lands, and you gently shake Makkari's shoulder, and she lifts her head off of your shoulder drowsily.

'We've arrived' you explain, and she nods. You both pull down your bags from the overhead, and slowly head out of the plane behind the long line of passengers.

You step out into the humid air, and Makkari taps your arm to get your attention. 'Kingo will pick us up' she informs, and you tilt your head.

'K-i-n-g-o?' You finger-spell, and Makkari nods.

'Don't worry, you'll understand exactly who he is soon enough' she signs with a mischievous grin, and you find yourself feeling a little nervous.

Once you leave the airport...

A sleek, black car is waiting by the entrance to the airport, and Makkari excitedly pulls you along towards it.

She knocks on the window and it rolls down.

"Hello!" Comes a cheery voice from inside. You peer inside to see a handsome Indian man inside, his black hair is perfectly styled and his smile is dazzling. And now you come to think of it...

"The shadow warrior?" You murmur your thought out loud, which makes the man—Kingo—laugh victoriously.

"He's a keeper, Makkari." He tells the brunnette, signing along with his words.

Makkari rolls her eyes and chuckles. 'Let's get in, Y/N' she says, and you both get into the spacious back seats of the car.

About a half an hour passes...

The three of you get out of the car, and into the beautiful outskirts of a forest. Kingo and Makkari start walking into the trees without hesitation, whereas you linger behind a moment longer.

Finally, as the pair get a little too far away for comfort, you jog up to walk alongside Makkari.

After a few minutes of walking, you come across a quaint little house nestled in the trees.

"This is beautiful!" You exclaim, and Makkari nods, whilst Kingo mutters a "yeah!". Kingo knocks on the door, and after only seconds, the door opens.
