READER PRONOUNS: THEY/THEM

When you first awoke by the order of Arishem, the ship was completely silent so you had a chance to look around.

Something in your head told you that the name of the ship was the Domo, and you had a mild idea of why you were here. To save a planet from imminent destruction from Deviants.

The Domo was beautiful, made of a dark obsidian with gold accents curling into it in fascinating patterns.

Your eyes focused in on a large window that showcased the dark expanse of the void of space. You had to force yourself to look away, entirely entranced by its splendour.

The next thing you noticed were the huge wings trailing behind you, connected to your back. You marvelled at them, extending one to admire it.

It had intricate markings of gold similar to those on the walls of the Domo mapped out on top of the soft white feathers, and was extremely powerful judging by the sizeable gust of air it created when you flapped it once.

While you were admiring it, you hadn't noticed that another person had awoken as well, quietly moving up behind you.

"They're beautiful." He comments, startling you.

You turn to face him, and give him a smile and a thank you. He comes closer and you notice how handsome he is.

A strong, masculine face with light stubble across his jaw. He had soft brown hair with a streak of white running through it, and dazzling blue eyes.

"I'm Ikaris." He introduces himself, walking a little closer. His voice and accent is like honey dripping into your ears.

"Y/N." You reply. He gives you a small smile, and you can see his ears flush.

"Your name is almost as beautiful as those wings of yours." He says, making your cheeks burn and eyes fall downcast.

You barely whisper out a thank you but you know Ikaris heard you from the way his smile grew.

Looking for something to distract you, you turn back around to face the large window you'd noticed before, walking up to it. You gasped once your eyes fell on what lies below the Domo.

A planet, gorgeous and shining with vibrant shades of deep blues and greens. It was completely indescribable in its beauty and you couldn't look away this time.

"Earth." Ikaris mutters from next to you, and you turn your face towards him, eyes still trained on the planet below.

"Pardon?" You ask. Ikaris gestures to the planet and you understand that it's called Earth.

"Midgard to the Asgardians, Terra to others, but the habitants call it Earth." He explains further, and you can't help but want to know more. Want to know all.

"It's... breathtaking." You whisper, and he nods.

"Then it'll suit you well," he says, "you're equally as beautiful."

Once again, your cheeks burn, and you glance over at him to see playfulness glinting in his eyes. You bite the inside of your lip and shake your head.

Thousands of years later...

You can't help the whoop of joy that leaves your lips as you soar through the air, cutting through it as fast as your possibly could.

Ikaris catches up next to you, his smile just as radiant as yours.

Whilst you fly with the spaced out yet steady beat of your wings, Ikaris' flight is silent and smooth. He can't help but be envious of your wings, whereas you think his way of flying is like magic.

You were both head over heels in love yet neither of you would acknowledge it in fear of being rejected.

Once you come to a land, your hair's fluffed up and your face is cold. Ikaris looks the same, and the grin on his face makes your own lips tug up into a smile of their own.

"It never gets old." He murmurs, walking next to you and throwing an arm over your shoulder.

You lean into him as you both walk along the forest path. There's a soft and fuzzy feeling in your chest as you gaze out at the tall trees and swirling clouds that you were once so close to.

"Ikaris.." you begin, but shake your head, deciding what you were going to say wasn't worth it.

"Hm?" He prompts, flexing his shoulder to make your head move. You lift it off of him and look into his eyes.

"I... do you ever think of the other Eternals as.. more than friends.. not family?" You ask, and his eyebrows quickly raise.

The tops of his ears flush as he stumbles over his words, searching for an answer. You giggle, just observing his reaction.

"Well.. Y-Y/N.. I- yes." He finally gets out, and your mouth goes dry with the nerves that are swelling in your chest.

"Yes?" You question, and in return Ikaris' eyes flicker up to yours for a split second.

"Yes," he repeats, "and to be honest.. it's you, Y/N. Always has been."

Time seems to come to a stop. You hadn't expected him to say it, to feel the same way.

"Ikaris..." You trail off, your brain unable to comprehend what you wanted to say.

So instead you stop in your tracks and press your lips to his. He freezes up for only a moment before kissing you back.

It's soft and loving, both of you brimming with excitement at the idea of what it meant.

Ikaris pulls away first, reaching his hand up to your cheek to run his thumb over your cheekbone.

You bury your face into his chest, extending your wings to pull him even closer.

It was perfect. Both you and Ikaris knew it. The moment you had both awoken you knew it.

You were meant to be.
