Nightmares weren't uncommon amongst the Eternals. Despite being beings of amazing cosmic power, the fear and the trauma from fighting Deviants from day to day could wear down on them.

So once you heard screams coming from somewhere in the Domo, you knew someone was reliving something in their dreams.

You immediately jump to your feet. Makkari, Sersi, Gilgamesh, Ajak and Sprite were all out somewhere in the world taking care of business, so you'd have to help.

Creeping out into the hallway, you listen for where the screams had come from, and sure enough it lead you straight to Druig's room.

You hesitate in front of the door.

You and Druig had never been the closest, largely due to the fact that you were one to hang around Sersi, Phastos or Gilgamesh, whereas he was always around Makkari, but you'd always had each others backs during fights or arguments and had grown a strong bond on the battle field.

Making up your mind, you raise your fist and knock lightly at his door. A shaky "come in" answered from inside and you gently pushed it open.

Inside the room, you were met with the sigh of Druig looking the lowest you'd ever seen him.

The blankets around him were in all sorts of dissaray, some wrapped tightly around his legs and some on the floor. His sweeping dark hair was flattened to his forehead with sweat and you could see the glistening tear tracks running down his cheeks.

Your heart aches for him as you see this, and it seems Druig is too shaken to care that you're seeing him this way because he makes no effort to tidy himself.

"Nightmare?" You question. Druig gives you a heavy nod of conformation, more tears slipping down his cheeks.

"Are you alright?" You ask timidly. He stares up at you for a moment before shaking his head.

Sympathy pulls at your heart as you venture closer to him, seeing his puffy red eyes in more detail now.

"Can I help?" You ponder, and he runs a hand through his damp hair, sniffing.

"Maybe." He replies, his voice throaty and thick. At his answer, you sit on the corner of the bed, giving him room but trying to be close and comforting.

"What can I do?" You murmur, and he closes his eyes, another tear escaping down his flushed cheeks.

"Stay." He whispers.

You give him a soft smile and move further up the bed and closer to him. He allows this, keeping his eyes on you at all times.

You shift yourself sideways and slot yourself in behind Druig, wrapping an arm around him. You don't hold him too tight, giving him the option to pull away, but he doesn't.

You rub comforting circles into his shoulder as you both sit in silence.

You knew how horrific nightmares amongst the Eternals could be so you thought it best not to ask the contents of said nightmare. Instead, you begin to mutter softly about random things: your day, plans you had, things you'd noticed among the still-developing humans.

Druig sat and listened, his ragged, jumping breaths slowly returning to normal and his muscles relaxing beneath your gentle touches.

"Feeling better?" You prompt softly once he relaxes completely, and he nods, pushing his head further into your shoulder.

You sigh, and move Druig's head to your chest, and he wraps his arms around you.

"Thank you for this." He murmurs, and you shake your head.

"It's no problem. Couldn't bear the thought of you alone in your room after a nightmare." You reply. He glances up at you with glassy eyes and hugs you closer.

" 'M glad it was you that came to help." Druig admits, so you press a kiss to his temple.

"Can I tell you a secret?" You murmur, eyes shining.

"Sure." He replies, nodding. You take a second to admire him, puffy eyes and messy hair and all.

"I'm glad it was me too." You whisper, which makes him chuckle.

Druig takes a deep breath and blinks slowly. You can tell by the look on his face that he's tired, since it's the same one he wears after every fight with a Deviant.

"You can go back to sleep if you're tired." You coax, to which he gives you and appreciative smile and a lazy nod.

He gets himself comfortable, burrowing his face just above your collarbone. With you watching, his eyes flutter closed and a small smile graces his features.

"Don't leave," he requests, "please."

Sympathy pulls at your heart and you nod, silently promising that you won't with a hand caressing his cheekbone.

Truth is, you planned to never leave Druig ever again. You vowed that you'd always be there for your fellow Eternal, no matter if it was against a Deviant or after a nightmare, you wouldn't leave.

You wouldn't give up on him, not in a million years.
