Peters POV
Michael takes aim and shoots at Riley just as his neck snaps. But pain explodes through my left shin as if I've been shot. I drop is body and sink to the ground to examine my leg. Blood seeps through my joggers.I can hear Riley behind me groaning in pain.
"Riley, are you okay. " I force out as I try to gently feel for a bullet wound, getting my fingers bloody."No! I've been shot. " She says, panic rising in her voice.
I'm not looking at her but I can tell that she's crying. I use my good leg to turn and balance myself enough and hobble to Riley. She's on the ground holding her leg. The blood is seeping though the jogging pants.
"Why are you hobbling?" She asks
That's a good question. I don't actually know. I wasn't the one who was just shot, but yet I think it's her pain I'm feeling.
"Riley lift up your pant leg. Let me see. "
She shakes her head slowly as the tears stream freely down her face. "I can't. It hurts. Take me inside. I don't want to be out here any longer." She pleads.
I try my hardest to grip her hand and pull her up without loosing my balance. I manage to do so successfully and she cries out in pain from the weight being put on her leg.
My heart breaks from seeing her in pain. I wish I would have tortured that bastard instead of killing him straight away.
I put my leg down despite the protest of intense pain and, pick Riley up bridal style. She squeals and I can't tell from pain or surprise. I glance over to my left at Michaels dead body, his eyes lay open and seemingly staring directly into mine.
Turning my gaze to Riley, her bright green and now puffy red eyes stare back at me. I love this girl. I take a step forward and grunt in pain, tightening my grip on her.
"Peter! Put me down. Your obviously injured somehow."
"No I got this." I take small steps forwards and clench my teeth to prevent from shouting expletives.
"Peter..."
"Your injured." I say looking down at her making my way to the house. Her eyes water up and she smiles slowly up at me.
"So are you. I love you. "
"I love you too." I kiss her nose and silently make my way to the front of the house.
Riley POV
Peter carries me into the house and works his way to the couch."No, not the couch. Granddad will be angry if I bleed on it."
"Riley, you've just been shot. I don't give a damn about the couch. I'll go steal him a new one if its that serious. "
I giggle at the thought of him steeling a whole couch. How would he manage that alone?
He gently sets me in the couch and starts pulling down my joggers.
"Woah, we've just been injured and you already want to see me naked. Jeez," I say smirking.
He laughs and continues leaning over my body to remove my bottoms.
"If I wanted to see you. I'd just ask." He whispers darkly with a flicker of salacious intent.
"What if I say no?" I challenge raising an eyebrow.
"Then you won't get to see me until I feel that you've learned a lesson." He sticks his tongue out momentarily.
I raise my hips of the couch and he pulls the joggers down to me ankles and over my bare feet. We never had the chance to actually put on shoes...with the whole incident...
I can feel the constricting feeling of loss in my chest. Daniel was such a good guy, and he died at the hands of my father... A tear slips.
"Shh shh, don't cry. " Peter soothes, rubbing the tear away with his hands and probably smearing blood on my face.
"Daniel..." I say as my one word response.
"Yes. I know. He was a good guy. I'll miss him too. It's not your fault though Riley. Your dad was insane, you didn't even know that he was still alive. It's not your fault."
"But Danie-" he cuts me off with a kiss. He grunts and I don't know if it's from pleasure or pain of his leg.
"Let me take care of you. "
He examines my wound and I do also. There's definitely a bullet in there. The whole is perfectly circular and Peter looks at me with concern on is face.
"Riley we're going have to get the bullet out."
