Riley POV
"Peter. " I force out.

We both sit it the back of the priests very small car, on our way to the hospital that granddad was at before.

"Sorry I went all stiff on you again. But I won't shut you out, no matter what. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't shut you out ever again like I did that one day. " I take his hand and look into his eyes.

I'm starting to get cold. We didn't have time to dry off...

Facing Peter I see a very crushed car on the side of the road through the window. Is that the car that Daniel had stolen? I couldn't get a good look. It's rather dark out now anyways.

Arriving at the hospital, Peter and I give our names and say that we're here to see Lorraine Dawsone. The lady behind the desks look at me like I'm missing something.

"Did you say Lorraine Dawsone?" She asks.

"Yes. She called me here so that we could discuss my granddad, Mr.Ford , she should be here with a Damon something. I don't know his last name." I say trying to rush her.

"Sweetie...Lorraine Dawsone perished in a car crash. Mr. Ford, is the one that called you here to speak..."

Suddenly my legs won't hold my weight anymore. I let what she just said sink in.

Mom died, not granddad. But then the end is near for him too. I'll have no other family...

"And Damon?" Peter asks.

"He checked himself out. I told him that you were guys were on your way, he insisted on going to get you guys himself. Then said he needed some air."

I'm shocked.

She tells Peter the room and he basically carried me all the way there and sits me in the edge of granddads bed.

"Riley..." Granddad says. "Listen..."

"I know already. " I tell him. I burst into a loud wail and Peter rushes to close the door. " I can't l-loose you t-toooooo. " I wail.

I lean over his body and lay my head on his chest, he winces but then soothes my hair. "You don't have to." He says in a hopeful tone.

I look up to him, my eyes burning from a the crying.

"Riley. I beat my cancer." He says.

More tears start to flow and I think it's a mixture of happiness and sadness. He's going to live! I jump up from the bed and attack Peter with hugs. He's going to live. I won't be the only one in my family.

Peter hugs me back with just as much force and I wrap my legs around his.
"I won't be alone!" I say out loud letting Peter go. He looks so confused.

"You never were going to be alone Riley. You have me forever and always. No matter what happens, you always have me."

5 Moths Later.
Damon never came to check on them, he never returned from his break to get "air." Riley started her twelfth grade school year at a local high school. Peter started college and got a full ride scholarship like he said he would. Granddad is still a strong old man and finally warmed up to Peter.

10 Years Later

Riley POV
"Peter this is all your fault!" I scream after him in pain.

My stomach cramps up and my water breaks.

"Just breathe, Riley. Breathe." Peter tells me.

He rushes me from our home. Our home that my mother bought for us all about 10 years ago. He opens the car door and speeds down the street towards the hospital.

I've grown to know that hospital way to much.

"Granddad. " Peter says on the phone but concentrating on the road also. "Get to the hospital. It's time. "

Final authors note.

For all of you who have read the story, thank you very much. I hope it wasn't to terrible, it was my first story.

But i'll write more. They will most likely also be romances.
