After that fiasco inside everyone went there separate ways to think about the signing.
I found Steve outside looking at the lake.
"When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out Peggy was alive. I was just lucky to have her. Then she passed. I felt empty again. Till you showed up and gave me another chance to actually know her." Steve tells me as I come and stand next to him.
"She had you back, too." I tell him.
"Who else signed?
"Tony, Rhodey, Vision." I tell him.
"Clint?" He asks me as I shake my head. I didn't know.
"Says he's retired." Nat comes up to us and says.
"Wanda?" He looks at me.
"TBD." I say.
" I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet." Nat tries to comfort him by squeezing his hand. Steve just sighs.
"Just because it's the path of least resistance... doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together." Nat says to us.
"What are we giving up to do it? I'm sorry, Nat. I can't sign it." Steve sighs and looks at me and Nat.
"I know." She smiles at him. Then looks at me.
"Then what are you doing here?" I giggle as she hugs me.
"Thought you two can use a friend. Come here, I don't want you to be alone." We all laugh as she pulls Steve into our hug.
It was a few hours after Nat left for the Accords. Me, Steve, and Wanda where in the kitchen cooking something to eat when Sam comes running in.
"Guys. There's something you gotta see."
MALE NEWS ANCHOR: "A bomb hidden in a news van..."
"Who's coordinating?" I asked.
"Ripped through the UN building in Vienna." Sam answers
"Good. They're solid.Forensics?" Steve says.
MALE NEWS ANCHOR: "More than 70 people have been injured. At least 12 are dead, including Wakanda's King T'Chaka. Officials have released a video of a suspect... who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes... the Winter Soldier. The infamous HYDRA agent... linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations."
Steve grabs his phone and calls Nat. He puts it on speaker so we can all hear.
"You all right?" Steve asks as soon she picks up. Me and Sam snigger. Steve just glares at us.
"Uh, yeah, thanks. I got lucky.....I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do...Stay home. You'll only make this worse, For all of us....Please." Nat tells us. We can hear sirens and screaming on her end.
"Are you saying you'll arrest us?"
"No. Someone will. If you interfere. That's how it works now." She warns Steve.
"If he's this far gone, Nat, I should be the one to bring him in." He tells her
"Why?" She sounded hesitant to ask.
"Because I'm the one least likely to die trying."After he says that he hangs up without another word.
"She tell you to stay out of it? Might have a point." Sam tells Steve.
"He'd do it for me." Steve says as he walks towards his room me and Sam following. Wanda went to her room with Vision.
"1945, maybe. We just want to make sure we consider all our options." I tell him. He looks at me confused.
"Your not coming." He tells me.
"Please, The people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at me." He rolls his eyes at me when I say that.
"Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public. Everybody thinks the Winter Soldier goes to their gym. Most of it's noise. Except for this." Sam holds up a tablet to show us. It showed us the real Bucky Barns.
"Suit up" Steve tells us.
