The mystery car had gotten my full attention. I was curious about the person and the car. I sat on the brick wall, staring at the house. I somehow went through the night without any conflict with junkies or gangs. I guess that's positive. I slid off the wall and started walking to warm myself up a little bit. I still hadn't eaten and I really needed some food. It started to make me woozy and nauseous. I crossed the street and took a few turns. I can't keep sitting on the brick wall, it's not going to help my hunger.

I perked inside a bakery. It smelled so good and made my stomach rumble. I can't remember I ever tasted a croissant. I bit my lip. 'Can you move aside if you're not going to enter the bakery?' The male voice sounded annoyed. I turned around. It's the guy from the car. I stepped aside and avoided his eyes. I hate it when people look straight at me. 'No apology?' He scowled and pushed me aside. I sighed and studied the guy. He's tall and muscular. Around the age of 20.

Around his left thigh, he wore a holster with gun and combat knife in it. He probably works for the army then. He exited the bakery and stopped,— looking at me. I looked away from him. His eyes are scary. Mr. Cooper often gives me that look when I do something wrong. I backed off when his hand reached out for me and walked away. I didn't want people to touch or look at me, especially not strangers. I walked back to the orphanage and stopped on the porch.

Slowly, I pushed open the door. Mr. Cooper was nowhere to be seen and I wanted to keep it that way for the time being. As soon as I was settled, Eden strode in and slammed the door shut behind her. 'Mute girl? How as your night on the streets,' she scoffed. Of course I didn't reply and simply rolled my eyes and looked away. 'So, who was the hottie you were talking to at the bakery?' she asked. I glanced at her and shrugged. I have no idea what his name is. We haven't offically met. He was scowling at me for being in his way, nothing more. 'He owns the Lamborghini, isn't it?' she asked and sat down on her bed. I turned my back towards her and ignored her. 'I am talking to you, mute girl,' she scowled. She knows I don't talk and yet she keeps trying to get a single sound out of me. I looked over my shoulder as I heard her get up. 'Fine, I will figure it out myself,' she snapped and left, slamming the door shut. Slowly, I hoisted myself up and sat down in the windowsill, looking at the road.

The next day, after breakfast, I left the orphange and followed Eden. She had figured out where the young man lived and was dying to know more about him. I sat down on the brick wall, having a safe distance to not get involved in this, but close enough to hear what she was going to say. The door opened and guy looked at her, leaing against the doorway. A scowl splattered all over his face. He's not amused and I wasn't sure if Eden decided to ignore it or was really that blind. If she wants something, she will get it either way.

'What do you want?' the guy snapped. 'I think I got the wrong house,' Eden said. I rolled my eyes. 'Than piss off,' the guy snapped. 'Wait...' Eden said. The guy turned around and looked at her. 'Can I know your name?' she asked. 'No, you have the wrong house, wasn't it?' he snapped. 'You got a nice car...' Eden began. I doubted this conversation was going to last for long. 'Thank you,' the man growled. 'How long do you have it?' Eden asked. 'Long, now piss off and leave me alone,' he snapped. I had to admire her sassyness. She sneaked inside and stood in the hall. The guy was just as surprised as I was. She's not giving up.

'I love cars...' Eden started. 'Yeah? You want me to drive you over? Let's see how much you like that. You must be born on the highway because... that's where most accidents happen, have a nice day,' he sneered and threw her outside before shutting the door, locking it. I chuckled. This made my day. Eden spotted me and marched over to me. 'Piss off, mute girl,' she sneered and waved her hand. I looked back at the house and car parked in the driveway for a second. 'Lik you can acomplish anything in live if you don't talk,' she snapped. For me it's not a competition. I just like seeing her fail. I turned my head as Eden walked off.

When she had disapeared, I slid off the brick wall again and left the neighborhood to avoid embarrassing conflicts. Sometimes I am a magnet for embarrassing situations. Around the evening, I got back at the orphange where Mr. Cooper was waiting for me. I glanced at Eden behind him. 'Skylar, where have you been?' he asked and tightly grabbed me. I looked down, avoiding both their eyes. Mr. Cooper slammed me against the wall. I uttered a grunt in pain. Not the first time he does it and my back was quite sore. 'What are we gonna do with you?' he questioned out loud. My body was shaking with fear. I wanted to be left alone. 'You look at people when they are talking to you,' he snapped and grabbed my jaw, forcing me to look at me. 'If I didn't want you to look at me, I would have pinched your eyes out already,' he snapped.

I flinched and looked down at the ground again. He started to beat me. Repeatedly until I laid motionless on the ground and lost my consciousness.
