Chapter 42

Esme's POV

I looked at my best friend in utter confusion. I was perplexed as to why she would even think that.

"What do you mean you're scared of conceiving?"

"The thing is Esme" she started and I paid full attention. "Stephan isn't ready to be a father, and we've been having raw sex, no condom, no contraceptives, no sperm flushing pills, nothing. Plus we're about to go to college for a six months course so we can get our diploma in fine arts."

Okay, I'm getting a bit confused.

"And how does that involve you being scared of getting pregnant, Alley?"

"It does. My period should have come and gone like 2 weeks ago, yet nothing. I'm worried that if I get pregnant now, Stephan will reject me and then I wouldn't be able to go to college still. Then I'd end up being miserable for the rest of my life"

So this was it? Her reason for being scared? Why the hell does this girl worry too much? Ughhhhh

"Okay Alley, I understand what you're going through. You worry too much; First off, Stephan isn't irresponsible. Just because he isn't ready for fatherhood doesn't mean he'll reject you when you're pregnant, especially when you're carrying his child"

I noticed she looked down, probably out of embarrassment. I mean she should be embarrassed, she was thinking absolute rubbish.

"Secondly, the college we applied to do online classes for those who are too far away to make it. We're in California and the college we applied to is in Venice, Italy. That's far away Alley, online classes will be applicable to us"

"Well you make things sound better Esme. I'm sorry for overthinking"

"It's alright Alley, things happen. Just don't push me away or shut me out next time. You should know I'll always be here for you"

"I'm sorry Esme, I love you" She said pulling me into a hug.

"I love you too" we were still hugging when suddenly Danny came running.

"Esme, it's Anna, she's in labour"

What?!?!?!

"What the hell, but she's not due till a few days"

"I don't know Esme. Just hurry"

With that Alley, Danny and I moved as quickly as we could. We were still trying to hurry when Alley just dropped.

"Omg Danny, she's fainted"

"Holy crabapples... Ummmm... Let's help her up... Ohh good, they're already bringing a stretcher"

I watched as some male nurses pick Alley up and placed her on the stretcher.

"Danny follow Alley, I'll go meet my sister" she nodded and we parted ways.

I kept moving until I got to the maternity section and I saw my family standing outside a room. I checked the name plate of the room and it read 'Major Operating Theatre One: Delivery Room'

"Mum, Dad, Ethan? What's going on?"

"Esme thank goodness you're here" my mother started. "You're sister's water broke and she started having contractions then she went into labour. Now she's giving birth" Immediately my sister's screams filled the area

I looked over to my brother and he was looking uneasy, he looked shaken up and his eyes looked moist... 'Are those tears?'

"Bro, is everything okay?"

"No Esme everything isn't okay. I'm supposed to be there for her... You know what, fuck it. Mum I'm going in" with that he burst through the doors and went in my mum started crying and my dad pulled her closer and held her still, trying to calm her down.

"Orchid? You're here, I've been looking all over for you"

My mate walked up to me and placed a kiss on my forehead. "What's going on babe? How's your sister?"

"They still haven't said anything Jerry, my brother couldn't take it so he burst in" I said and he held my hand and gently squeezed

"She'll be fine orchid, you just have to relax"

I nodded and our foreheads met, which seemed to calm me down.

About 30 minutes later...
It was already 4 minutes past 2 o'clock and my family and I sat patiently on the bench outside the delivery room. The beautiful scent of flowers clouded the environment, and I was loving it; from carnations to roses to orchids. Each scent distinct in it's own special way. 'I should get Erianna bluebells when she's been transferred to a maternity ward'. I thought, she always loved bluebells.

I remember when we'd just chill by the ocean, leave footprints to be washed up on the sand, feel the wind in our hairs; She always used to be so playful. Now, she's here, birthing a child.

The thought that I'd one day birth my own child too, an adorable soon to be fearless Luciano Junior or a beautiful soon to be badass Esmeralda Junior.

At least I know not to be scared, I have the most supportive and caring mate the Moon goddess could have ever paired me with.

I was Currently snuggled up to his arm, I looked up to him and smiled, he smiled back and kissed my forehead, I kissed his nose in return and his smile widened.

I was about snuggling back but the loud screams that Anna let out jolted me out of dream Land

"She's been in there for too long mum, I'm starting to worry" I said and my mother placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Give her time Esmeralda" with that we heard a baby's cry and our faces lightened up, my father embraced my mother and I joined in it, before hugging Luciano, then Ethan came out covered in sweat and some blood.

"Father, Mother, you two; as scary as it was in there, I'm happy to tell you I'm the proud father of a beautiful baby boy..."

My mother couldn't express her joy as she engulfed my brother in a hug and then pulled away.

"Erianna can see all of you now mum, c'mon"

I hugged my brother whilst my parents went in.

"I'm happy for you big brother, you're now a dad"

"Thank you Lil sis" he kissed the top of my head, I giggled as I watched my mate bro hug him.

"Congratulations bro, you did it."

"Thanks man, you coming?"

"Why would I miss the chance to see my first nephew? C'mon Orchid" he held my hand and led me in.
