Chapter 25

Esme's POV

We exchanged glances before we looked back at Richard. "What exactly is your brother, Jefferson planning" Luciano asked

"Like I said, he's forming an allegiance for only rogues. He intends on using these rogues to take over lots of packs, by killing their alphas, betas, gammas and their mates. He wants to rule all the pack's within the state and he wants your mate as well. he also wants to create a different title for himself. He wants to call himself the rogue king and your mate, after he claims her, he'll call her his rogue queen. He specifically wants to start with your pack first. I think you know why." To say we were dumbfounded was an understatement. I was speechless. Luciano didn't look any different

"What do you mean I know why? Is it because he wants my mate? I was wondering the same thing. "No, it's because he's attacking royal wolves first. Since you're a royal wolf descendant he decided to start with your pack first" Luciano looked confused for a second before he seemed to understand. "My mum is a direct descendant from the royal wolves, aunt Enriqueta Is her cousin. Meaning both the Alpha and beta's family are in danger, because we are direct relations with the royal wolves, making us direct targets" Luciano said in a tone that I wasn't quite enjoying. He showed fear in his tone, he knew if he was scared every wolf in the pack would know and they would ask questions. I wasn't liking this one bit.

"Exactly, I want to help you, I know a few of his plans and I am sure he won't know I'm helping you. He can only hear my thoughts if I am in my healthy state. The Wolfsbane you have given me has made me weak. And I'm sure you know what that means." Richard seemed to be persistent on helping us and I can't help the feeling that hit me. I felt he was honest, he really did want to help us. "Why are you persistent on helping us? What do you stand to gain?" I wanted to be sure, to know what my mate and I were getting ourselves into.

"Nothing. I just want my freedom from my brother. I want to make amends. I want justice for the cruelty he meted out to my sister and my mate. Hopefully if I explain what happened my former alpha will take me back" he spoke sincere honesty in his words. My mate looked at me, as if to ask what my opinion was. I nodded my head as if to tell him I agreed to his offer.

"Very well then. We will give you food and new clothes. But we will keep sedating you with Wolfsbane. Your brother must not know you are helping us. I hope we can trust you." With that we both left the dungeon, Enola was feeling uneasy and was begging to be released. She wanted to run but I knew Luciano would never let me go out. I decided to just ask him. Just as I was about to...

"No princess, I'm sorry but you can't go out to run" how did he do that. "Pardon me?"

"Don't act so innocent orchid. You forgot Enola and Max are connected by the mate bond, so if she's uneasy, Max will know. So you're not going anywhere. It's too dangerous out there"

"Okay, I won't run. By the way, the girls and I got an A in our project. The scores came in today". I said before going upstairs. I went into our bedroom-yes, we now sleep together in his room-and decided I'll go out the window. When I want to shift, I want to shift. I won't take no for an answer. I jumped out the window and landed on the dumpster, thankfully it was closed. I made sure no one was around before finally shifting. Sprinting into the woods Luciano tried to mind link me but I cut him off, I was now out of pack borders and I was sure I wasn't alone. Rogues, about three of them came out from behind the trees and I could smell a pack member beside them. 'Lara!!!' I exclaimed to myself.

"Hey bitch, I told you I wasn't going to let you take Luciano away from me. I will fight you till death for him" she said as she wasted no time to shift. She was about to attack me before I lunged for her. I buried my teeth in her back. She whelps in pain and the rogues that were with her pounce on me. She stands back as the three rogues hold me steady before one of them leaves me. The rogue begins to bite me, I tried to mind link Luciano but I couldn't reach him. I tried to fight them off but the other rogue ends up burying his teeth in my back

It was so deep that I was beginning to think his teeth was stuck there. Just then Luciano shows up in his wolf form as he began to fight off the rogues, he bites Lara in the ear and uses his paw to knock her out and not long after she was unconscious. He asked Chris to capture Lara. He was scared on his left arm and he shoots an angry glare at me. "You're coming with me princess" he said through the mind link as a lump formed in my throat

The walk home was quiet and I had not yet shifted back but Luciano shifted in front the of the house and put on a pair of shorts that he apparently left outside. My back hurt a lot and I was seriously bleeding and Luciano didn't acknowledge me. We walked into the house and he asked everyone to take the day off. We went upstairs and he held the door of the bedroom for me.

"Shift right now Esme" he said. I grinned at him and he growled. "FUCKING SHIFT RIGHT NOW ESME" he commanded with his alpha tone. I shifted and stood Stark naked in front of him. I still had a problem with him seeing me unclad so I was feeling really weird.

"Why did you do that, I told you not to go out but you disobeyed me. Look at how much you're bleeding, what if it was way worse. I could have lost you out there. You need to be more careful. You can't just do as you please baby. Now you're hurt and it's gonna take a while for you to heal. We're going to need to see the pack doctor. Put your clothes on and for the record, I'm mad At you" he said not acknowledging me anymore. I struggled to put on my clothes as my back hurt a lot. I yelled in pain because the wound stung me. My mate looked over to where I was and saw how much pain I was in.

"Here, let me help you with that Princess" he said and I realized he was still a little bit mad at me and I could tell.

I'm sorry I haven't really updated, like I once said I'm currently in the middle of exams but I love you all
