My phone rang repeatedly causing me to toss and turn angrily on my bed. Who could be calling me this early??.. I ignored it trying to drift off back into my wonderful dream about me and Derin getting happily married but my phone wouldn't stop ringing.

Grabbing my phone with an annoyed grunt I answered it without checking the caller.

"Hello" I said with a snap, when I heard his voice..

"Hey Tami.."
Even with how sleepy I was I immediately recognized his voice, it was the voice I've grown to hear after so many years of us being best friends. I could never forget it.

"Derin? Why are you calling me so late? What is the time?" I grunted checking the time on my phone to see that it three a.m in the morning.

"For crying out loud Derin, this is three in the morning! What could be so important that you'd wake me up from my beauty sleep?!" I whispered shouting..

I heard him sigh on the other end before finally answering me..

"Relax Tami, I just.. i just needed someone to talk to" he said his voice low and sounding tired.

"What's wrong?" I asked already starting to feel worried..

"Adesuwa and I just broke up" he answered
This was a very surprising news and I couldn't help but widen my eyes in shock. Adesuwa was Derin's recently new girlfriend, Girl number 16 since Derin and I became friends..
Yes I keep count of the girls he dates, it's weird but whatever.

"How come? What happened?" I asked curiously..
Honestly I could care less about his relationship with Adesuwa because I hated her guts. We just never seemed to get along and she's always mean to me whenever we meet. Calling me a boyfriend stealer and all that but it's not my fault Derin and I are just really close. I'm just always going to be his friend because he doesn't see me as a girl..
It hurts but I've been living with it.. so I'm used to it.

"Well you see, she saw the pictures of us together on my phone.. You know the recent hangout we had when we both went to the beach and she got angry and started yelling and saying I should have taken her with us and all of that.." he answered his voice starting to sound ticked off

"But it's the third Friday of the month, we always hang out every third Friday just the two of us.. She knows this plus your Aunty was celebrating her birthday at the beach and I was invited" I explained..

"Exactly Tami, I tried explaining it to her also but she wouldn't have it.. Did she expect me to bring her along for the outing? What would I tell my parents? That mum, dad meet my girlfriend.. You know my parents Tami and they won't allow that.. you're the only girl they like hanging around me.. plus i don't want any trouble" he said

"So, she broke up with you just because you didn't bring her along with us to the beach" I asked..

"Errm no, I broke up with her" he answered

"Well that's surprising, why would you do that? Don't you like her and plus you said she was the only sane girlfriend you've had since the others fell through" I said..

"Yeah about that baby, I was wrong.. she's crazy" he said with a chuckle..

My heart melted at the mention of him calling me baby.. He says it sometimes unconsciously whenever he talks to me and I always get butterflies whenever that happens.. I'm not sure if he realizes it but it's been that way since I remember..

"Well I'm sorry about your broken relationship, I never liked her anyways.. always wondered what you liked about her because she's soo mean" I complained

"You mean she's mean to you.." he teased
"Exactly! I don't know what I ever did to her" I said with an eye roll.

"She was just jealous of you tami, that's why" he answered
"I don't get why she'd be, I mean she's the one dating you" I muttered silently.
