Derin took me to a beach. It was a private beach in lagos, located on the island. Since it wasn't during the holidays, it wasn't filled with that much people. My outfit was beach worthy, a flair white boho skirt with a sky blue corset top and strapped sandals. My hair was in French braids and Desola helped me style it up nicely.
I wasn't wearing any makeup.. wanted to be natural as possible..

This was our first date and it was starting out nicely. Derin looked really nice in blue khaki shorts and a white shirt with a pair of sunglasses draped on his curly head. As we got out of the car, he took my hand in his the feeling really warm causing me to blush as we walked into the beach. Throughout the car ride he wouldn't stop stealing glances at me, not much was said but it was comfortable.
We were both just so excited that it was finally happening... it felt unreal... waking up this morning and realizing i was going on a date with my best friend.

We walked into a nicely lit restaurant out on the beach overseeing the ocean. The air smelled like sea water and the sky was clear as ever. He walked us towards a table close to the windows giving us the view of the ocean as he sat opposite me. I removed my eyes from the view turning to meet his which were already on me, a small smile forming on his lips as he checked me out.
"You look beautiful Tami."
I slightly bit my lip in excitement at that trying very hard not to scream hoping to God that I wasn't dreaming.
"Thanks Derin."
"So what do you think? Do you like this restaurant?" He asked keenly
"Yeah, it's lovely"  I answered

Someone came over to take our order and we both decided to eat finger foods and later on desert of chocolate cake.
"I really hope I'm not blowing up this date.." he said sounding hopeful causing me to chuckle nodding my head.
"You're not.. it's lovely, our first date is at the beach.." I replied
"Yeah.. I remember you telling me that you've always wanted to have a date at the beach.." he said shyly faking a cough making me swoon in delight..

"Aww Derin.. thank you, it's sweet that you remembered.." I said with a smile making him smile too.
"What do we talk about now?" He asked suddenly
"How about why you suddenly decided to ask me out on a date?" I replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Because i realized that the girl of my dreams has been by my side all this time."
He said straight away causing my eyes to widen slightly at his confession my heart beat increasing with each passing moment.
Did he just call me the girl of his dreams?..
"You mean that?" I asked softly not sure i heard him clearly..
"Of course I mean that Tami. You're the girl of my dreams." He repeated with a grin making me smile shaking my head softly as we locked eyes.

"For someone who thinks he's ruining our first date I'd say he was killing it" i said giving him a teasing look causing him to wink playfully.
"I try my best baby.."

"Why did you break up with Naomi?" I asked feeling really curious..
He gave a soft sigh before answering me..
"I got tired of her.. she was being too much, and i just didn't like her. I honestly never did.. still don't know why I was with her in the first place."
"Oh.. wow.  It didn't seem like that to me though"
"What do you mean?" He asked confused looking closely at me waiting to hear what I had to say

"It just always seemed like you two had something really deep going on.. she was all over you and well.. you changed a bit when you were with her"
"She was all over me and never gave me the time of the day.. it was annoying, and yes i did change because i was trying to keep up with being in a relationship with her.. and I guess I made myself believe that I could be happy with her" he replied in all honesty.
"And you weren't were you?"

"I really wasn't.. I've never really liked the girls I've been with though.. I just dated them to get over.." he said hesitant to finish what he was saying..
"Yeah?.."
"To get over you tami.." he finally answered locking eyes with my surprised looking ones.
