I was currently doing the dishes in the kitchen my mind thinking about the kiss and I Derin shared in class. I can't believe I let him take my first kiss, ever since then we haven't spoken about it.

Although I've tried bringing it up once in a while but Derin always managed to change the topic and thinking about that bothers me..
Does he regret kissing me? Or did I kiss badly? . It didn't seem that way because he had a smile on his face afterwards..

"Tamilore!" My mum called snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes mummy" I immediately answered her

"Where's your mind you this girl?, can't you see that you're wasting water ehn?!" She scolded with a disapproving frown on her face.
My eyes immediately widen in shock noticing the water gushing out of the tap before hurriedly closing it.

"You better focus" my mum said hissing in the process causing me to groan silently in embarrassment.

"Sorry ma..it was a mistake" I answered

"I heard that they've postponed jamb" my mum said as she stirred the stew warming on the gas cooker.

"Yes mum, it's no longer this month" I answered.

"Hope you're preparing and not playing around in that tutorial center because remember it's medicine you're studying" my mum said giving me a look.

"Yes mummy, I'm preparing and not playing" I answered subtly rolling my eyes.

"Tami, your phone has been ringing for over an hour" my younger sister said bringing my phone for me..

"Who keeps calling?" I asked collecting my phone from her

"It's Kemi" she answered leaving the kitchen.
I immediately answered the call with a smile wondering what the news was that she wouldn't stop calling me for over an hour..

"Hey bestie, what's up" I greeted
"Tamiiii!!! Guess what??!" She screamed in shock
"What happened?"

"Derin!"
"Yeah?? What happened to him?"I asked curiously

"Derin and Naomi are currently dating!!" She screamed over the phone..

My face immediately paled upon hearing the news..
And here goes my chances of having anything romantic with my best friend.. Welcome girl 17..
"What do you mean by Derin and Naomi are dating?" I asked my voice faltering as I felt my eyes water..

"I'm serious, it's all over the group chat.. Apparently Naomi asked him out on their date today and he said yes" she explained

"He went on a date?" I asked confused
"Yeah, didn't he tell you?.. Naomi won't stop posting their pictures everywhere" Kemi answered.

"I see.. well" I said clearing my throat to hide any reason for her to hear the pain in my voice..

"I'm so sorry tami, I know how much you hoped you know even after the kiss you guys shared.. That Derin is such a dick! I can't believe he'd do this to you.. he's supposed to be your best friend" she said in anger but I couldn't even say anything..

All I could feel was my heart breaking into tiny million pieces.. What did I think? That Derin would suddenly like me back? That he'd start seeing me as a girl..
I gave a humorless laugh to that "I'll always just be his best friend"

"Uhn? Did you say something sweetie?" She asked

"It's okay Kemi, thanks for telling me.. I'll see you tomorrow in class" I said not feeling in the mood to talk any longer.

"Alright, bye bestie"

"Goodnight". I immediately ended the call rushing out of the kitchen into my room and bursting into tears..
I shouldn't have let him kiss me, how could I have been so clueless. My face currently down on my pillows as I sobbed quietly the heart ache seeping in deeply when my phone started to ring.
