It was the weekend and the sun was out brightly. Sitting upright on my bed, my mind drifted to the day i sort of confessed my feelings to Derin. Ever since that day, we hadn't spoken to each other. He hadn't reached out either, probably because he was still in shock about what i said or he was just too busy with classes to remember.
Or he didn't care much about the kiss and I'm just the one making it a big deal.
"Hey roomie." Desola said with a soft smile as she applied tooth paste to her brush.
"Hey.." i answered
She dropped the paste turning to stare at me her eyes filled with slight confusion at my damp mood.
"What's wrong Tami?" She asked nicely

"It's nothing.. I'm just thinking about some things.."
"Is it tony?" She asked
Tony and i weren't together anymore, after that night he messed up at my school's orientation he slowly drifted away from me and i didn't know how to make him stay. He started meeting up a lot with Clarissa and would post their pictures of them having fun together. He rarely answered my texts and picked my calls. And then one day i got a text from him telling me he no longer wanted us to be together.
Apparently i was the problem.. it hurt though, I cried for days with desola consoling me and Kemi insulting him angrily over the phone..

He was right though, I still liked Derin. My feelings for tony were just infatuation, he was just a distraction from Derin and I guess he slowly realized it too. I wish that he found a better way of ending things than sending just a blank text but is there any better way to end a relationship with someone?..
"It's not tony.. I was just thinking about derin" I said answering her.
Her eyes softened as she came to sit next to me on my bed embracing me in a soft side hug.
"He'll come around Tami, he's your best friend.. just give him time"
"I hope.. I'd hate for what I said that day to push him away." I said slowly starting to regret everything..
"I doubt that.. you shouldn't think too much Tami, trust the process babe.. I just know he'll come around" she said her words really encouraging.
My phone immediately beeped showing an incoming text from Derin surprising the both of us. I opened it still in shock that he finally texted me, hoping it wasn't another break up text message like Tony's..

'Hey Tami. do you wanna go on a date with me?'

My eyes widened in shock as I read his text,
unable to believe what I was currently seeing. Desola just stared wide eyed at my phone before a huge grin took over her features.
"Oh my god! Tami! Derin just.. he just asked you out on a dateee!" Desola squealed happily causing a huge smile to grow on my face.
"He.. he did.. it's not a dream right? Desola you see the text too right?" I asked just to be sure I wasn't dreaming.
She just laughed harder hugging me closer to her body "of course it's not a dream dummy, your best friend finally asked you out!!, Tami I'm sooo happy for you!"
I smiled happily as I read the text once more.. as i saw his type bubble before another text from him came in.
"Tami? You still haven't said anything.."
I smiled harder.. about typing my answer when another text from him came in.

"You have to say yes tho. Remember you kissed me😏."
I laughed as I read his text realizing that nothing's changed and how much I've missed him.
"Enough with the text messages Derin.. 😂😭" I sent..

"Well you refused to reply me sooo🙄"
"Do you still wanna hear my reply. Or are you just gonna keep whining like a baby?"
"Tell me tami, the two of us on date? Does that sound nice to you?"
"What about Naomi?"
"We broke up."
My smile widened at the news feeling extremely happy that he was no longer with her.
"Tony and i also broke up."
His reply came in almost immediately causing my smile to widen as I read his reply. Soft laughter bubbling at my throat.
"Finally! You decided to dump that douchebag"
"Well.. he dumped me tho, through a text.."
"He what?!!🤬"
"I'll tell you about it in person.. I just wanted you to know though.. you were right all along about him not being good for me, I should've just listened to you.." I sent..

"Aww Tami.. it's fine, I'm honestly not upset about that but if I get my hands on that tony I'll kill him..😶"
"Thanks Derin..😅"
"So? You still haven't replied to my question Tami..👀"

"Really? Thought my answer was already obvious😏"
"I still want to hear you say it.🌚"
I blushed at his reply.. slowly typing my answer...
"Yes Derin, I'll go on a date with you.🙈☺️"
"Yesssss! 🕺🏾✨"
I was a giggling mess, softly laughing as i stared at my phone kicking my legs. Loving the feeling i was getting from talking to Derin, really wishing he was right next to me.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow around that 12pm.. dress casual tami😉" his message read causing me to smile in happiness at that.
"Can't wait..😊"

"Soo? What's going to happen now?" Desola asked excitedly coming out of the bathroom in her bathrobe.
"I'm going on a date with Derin tomorrow!!!" I squealed happily jumping on my bed as she joined me in squealing happily too..
I can't believe it's finally happening.. ✨🦋

Tami agreed to go on a date with me.
After the night she kissed me I haven't been myself. It's as if her kiss unlocked a whole new different feeling in me, i wanted her so much it drove me crazy just thinking about it.
I've always liked Tami, ever since the first day i saw her something in me blossomed and I never saw myself ever leaving her side. She made me happy, she made me smile.. she even made me forget how to breathe sometimes just by being close to her.
I might've dated tons of girls but Tami has always been my number one.. I've just been hiding and running away from my feelings for her because I was afraid.. would she want me? Does she even like me that way?

I threw little hints her way sometimes to get her to realize how I felt about her, I took her first kiss because i wanted to be the first boy to feel those soft lips of hers and it was amazing. When she dated tony it drove me mad with anger, i couldn't stand the fact that another guy had his arms wrapped around her. Touching her in ways I'd kill to, To think that douchebag dumped her. If I ever see him I'll kill him.
I always knew he was bad news.. I just couldn't like him.. he gave off shady vibes.
Excitement rolled off me as i stared at the text Tami sent, I honestly couldn't believe she agreed to go on a date with me. Honestly I was expecting her to send some laugh emojis and ask if I was okay but I'm glad it was neither. My friendship with Tami hasn't been normal, that I can agree with..
but it's like this... I've always liked her but she's my best friend.. the only girl that truly gets me and the same girl i want to kiss over and over again... do i break that friendship boundary and push for something more? Or do I keep on ignoring my longing feelings for her?..
My thoughts were cut off by Amos walking out of the bathroom blasting music out of his portable Bluetooth speaker.

"Reduce that would you?!" i snapped in slight annoyance as I watched a smirk crawl on his lips.
"Why? Is it stopping you from thinking about Tami?" He teased mischievously causing me to roll my eyes..
"Well yes!" I replied stating the obvious making him laugh
"I honestly can't believe you decided to man up and ask her out. I was planning on doing it for you since you refuse to fucking see it"

I glared at him as he laughed at my facial expressions " you wouldn't dare.."
"You know I would.. besides why finally do it now? What pushed you to finally ask her?" He asked staring curiously at me..
My mind drifted back to the time when we were both in the class, her words ringing in my ears..
'I didn't kiss you cos i missed tony, i kissed you because i wanted to'

"Let's just say.. she finally gave me the green light." I replied him with a cheesy smile causing him to chuckle deeply..
I honestly can't wait for you to be mine tami...✨
