9: Gabriel And Adrien

Gabriel was as usual, standing in front of the Emilie portrait. He gave up.

He just gave up.

He terrorized Paris so long, he couldn't hold it anymore.

So he gave up.

He saw Ladybug and Chat Noir patrol the streets, but he was getting old. The doctors said to watch his heart rate.

He hadn't told Adrien he could be dying any second. He was already distraught about Nino's death.

But he missed his wife.

What if...

What if he became Hawk Moth one last time. Just for the sake of it. Maybe he'd succeed this time. Or maybe you'd just fuck up your health more.

He shrugged the thought away. He never listened to that voice in his head.

Natalie walked past Gabriel with some books when she saw him take a box out of his pocket.

The silver little square box.

That box. She thought he'd stop.

"Sir!"

Gabriel turned around, putting the Moth miraculous on. Nooroo flew out, horrified by the familiar face.

"Sir, think about your health! About Adrien!"

"I know Natalie, but maybe just this once." Gabriel said the words and transformed.

There he was.

The guy who terrorized Paris once.

Which quickly stopped. Gabriel started coughing hard. He detransformed and Natalie rushed over to help him. She had the doctors on speed dial and called them. "They're gonna be here soon."

"Soon may not be enough time for me." he took the miraculous off and put it in the little silver square box and handed it to Natalie. "Give this to Adrien. He deserves the truth."

"Sir I-"

Gabriel coughed. "No backtalk. Just do it. I trust you Natalie."

Natalie started sobbing as she didn't hear his heartbeat anymore. Outside the sirens could be heard.

Paramedics rushed inside to help Gabriel, Natalie not wanted to let go. I trust you.

Those words repeating in her head. A blonde woman walked over to Natalie. "Madam?"

Natalie turned around. "Yes?"

"He left out a breath. He still has life in him. We'll bring him to the hospital as fast as we can to make him better."
The blonde nurse smiled.

Natalie couldn't believe. He could still be alive.

She could tell him.

Tell him what she wanted to tell him all these years.

There was hope.

Now she had to call Adrien."

Adrien ran to the hospital and barged through the doors looking for his dad.

"Where is he?"

The receptioniste checked her computer. "He's staying in room 15 c. You can take the left staircase and go straight through the hall."

Adrien smiled and took Marinette's arm, who'd he'd taken with her, knowing she loved Gabriel.

They got to Gabriel's room and saw 3 male nurses when they entered. Gabriel was on a hospital bed in a hospital robe eating hospital food.

It was a strange seeing.

"Adrien.."

"Father!"

Adrien walked over to Gabriel and started talking with him. Gabriel apologized for being a shit dad. Also because he was not gonna live that long anymore and he didn't want to die with guilt.

They were talking for about an hour when the heart monitor started rapidly beeping.

The male nurses that were in the room started helping Gabriel. The door opened and Natalie entered at the wrong moment.

Her heart broke in pieces seeing Gabriel in that state.

Everything she wanted to say.

Everything she wanted to do.

It was too late.

A male nurse looked over at the nurse that was checking his temperature. "He's gone."

Adriens eyes widened and started crying. Marinette was comforting him. She was too, letting a tear go. Gabriel was her inspiration. She wanted to ask him all sorts of things.

But too late.

Gabriel Agreste died December 5th 2021 at 12:00 pm.

Adrien got off the floor and walked out of the room with Marinette still crying. Natalie walked over to them and asked to speak alone with Adrien.

They nodded and Natalie walked a bit further with Adrien. Natalie stopped and faced Adrien. "Your father had many secrets Adrien. And because of that, he was cold to you. But now, he told me to give you his secret. He hoped you won't be angry, but please, don't overreact."

Adrien still clueless, didn't understand what was happening but accepted to little silver square box. "Uh, thank you Natalie."

Natalie smiled and walked away. Adrien was left alone with the mysterious little silver square box. He opened the box and his whole world fell apart.

I'm the little silver square box there was a pin.

A purple pin.

And there it was, the Moth miraculous.

His father was Hawk Moth.

Adrien remained silent. He heard Marinette call his name but he didn't respond. His dad was Hawk Moth. He lived in the same house with the person who terrorized Paris for all these years.

He had to tell Ladybug.
