7: Games And Talks

Amber stood next to Marinette, already giving up hope. Week after week she tried to get her attention, but it's what she feared. Marinette was straight and Amber couldn't do anything about it.

She opened the door to her room and saw Adrien and Thomas playing Uno.

"Oh my god, kids."

"Ha ha." Thomas looked at his cards and got very excited. "Uno! Ha! You owe me."

"No- no! You still have one card left!"

Thomas chuckled. "Oh but you're dead!"

"I'm done with the pact!"

Adrien looked at Amber and put his cards down. "Wha- why?"

"Because she's obviously not into girls." Amber sat on her bed.

Thomas looked from Adrien to Amber and back. "What pact?"

"Me and Adrien started a competition who'd get Marinette first since we both like her, but Marinette is obviously not into girls. So I'm out. She's yours, rich boy."

Thomas chuckled awkwardly. "I like her too..."

"Nice. Adrien, you can start a pact with Thomas. You're practically the same people. You both have blonde hair and you both have fathers issues."

"Yeah rub it in, will you."

Adrien gave Thomas a hands. "Deal?"

Thomas kinda hesitated but then eventually shaked Adriens hand. Marinette entered the room and saw the Uno cards on the floor. "Ooh! You're playing Uno! Can I play with?"

"Uh we wanted to stop but sure, we can play a round."

Adrien took the cards and put them under his shirt. "You don't want to play with her. She's very competitive."

"No, I'm not!"

Adrien raised an eyebrow. "Marinette, you broke my legs at Twister because you had to put your hand on the blue circle even when it was clearly impossible."

"I still got my hand there."

"Yeah, and I got sent to the hospital. My father banned you from seeing me for two months."

"OK, that was one time."

Adrien huffed. "Okay, what about the time we played monopoly and you were losing your money and houses and you just threw away the board in the pouring rain?"

"Uh, everyone would've done that."

"No Marinette, no one would've done something like that."

Thomas started laughing. Marinette turned her head to Thomas. "Why are you laughing, what's so funny?"

"Y- you look so adorable, but when you're angry you look like an angry puppy."

Marinette rolled her eyes. "But Cmon Adrien, I can play without breaking someone's bones."

"Oh alright. But if you start yelling, you're done."

"Uno! Ha!" Marinette threw the cards in their faces. "Losers!"

Adrien looked at Thomas and Amber. "Now see why I didn't want that she played? Sweet Marinette turns into...that."

Marinette looked at the clock and her eyes widened. "Oh shit shit shit, fuck me." Amber and Adrien smirked.

Thomas got up and went after Marinette who ran to her dorm. "Hey now, what's wrong?"

"I have to submit my essay about fashion in the 1800's and I'm not halfway."

"When do you have to submit it?"

"In an hour."

"Which Teacher?"

"Miss Gonzalez."

"Ooh."

"Yeah. Can you please help me? Please? I can't do this alone. And you owe me."

"Yeah sure."

"Hey, do you maybe wanna go to the movies?" Amber said, looking at her phone.

"What movie?"

"Well, I see The Conjuring 4 is out."

Adrien made a face. "Horror movies? I don't know.."

"Don't tell me you're scared of horror movies."

Adrien looked away and Amber started laughing. After she regained herself, she scrolled down but every movie was horror.

"Hey, let's just try to go to The Conjuring 4."

Adrien looked away. "Go ask Marinette."

"Marinette is working on her essay. She's busy."

Adrien sighed. "Look, I'm just not so keen about horror movies."

"Pussy." Amber got up form her bed. "I'll go ask Mia then." Amber left and shut the door.

Plagg flew out from Adriens jacket. "You used to love horror movies. What happened?"

"Nothing...really happened."

Plagg raised an eyebrow.

Adrien sighed. "Ok fine. When I was akumatized once, I almost killed Ladybug. I remember that. I saw her there on the floor, me with my cataclysm on the verge of touching her. Till she called me 'kitty'.  I felt like everything became clearer. Since that day, that moment haunts me more than ever. That's enough horror fuel to get me through the days. Sometimes I get nightmares from that where I actually cataclysm her. I sometimes can't sleep at night." Adrien looked down, a tear coming out.

Plagg looked sad around." You never told me that before."

"It's because I didn't want you to worry about me. Quick, go in my jacket, I'm gonna go to Marinette."

"Why?"

"For company."
