24: Fears

For a moment, you were dazed. Your eyes were focused onto the book right in front of you. Your name was called out a few times but you didn't hear it until finally the voice came closer, filled with anger and annoyance.

"(L/n) (F/n)!"

A wooden ruler was slammed onto the book that you stared. You yelped and stood like a soldier saluting its commander. Everyone in class laughed and when your eyes travelled to the teacher in front of you, your sweat drips down your face and you knew what you've done wrong.

"S-Sorry Iwamoto-s-sensei," You stuttered.

"Thank you for returning to earth Miss (L/n)" he glared and walked back. "Now, onto the next chapter..."

You sighed and sat back. Momoi faced you and she smiled worryingly, asking you whether you're okay or not.

"What's wrong (F/n)-chan?" The pink haired girl asked as the two of you walked along the corridor. "You were dazing off ever since you came this morning."

"I-I'm fine," You smiled. Ever since that incident of you, I mean, the rabbit mascot having a one-on-one match with Aomine, things were getting a little bit difficult. Well, you are a little bit furious when he accidentally grabbed your chest. You've been avoiding him lately and didn't reply any of his text messages or even answer his calls. Just when you were about to fill your head with more thoughts of the male, Momoi cut you off.

"Was it Dai-chan?" She asked.

Your feet stopped and your whole body froze. "S-Satsuki-chan..." She replied with a hum and she tilted her head, waiting for you to continue. "Do you think I should..." you paused and Momoi blinked.

"What's wrong (F/n)-chan?" She asked again.

"Do you think I should tell him?" You turned to face her.

Momoi knew what you meant. You've always loved him but you were too scared to even confess to the guy, again. You've been rejected once with the harshness of his words and the coldness in his tone but years passed and the two of you seems to get closer again. He confessed to you, asking you for another chance. You were scared. You don't want to get hurt. You don't want to cry again because it tires you out. Just looking at him makes your heart aches more.

"(F/n)-chan..." She spoke. When you looked at her, she smiled. "I don't know. Whatever your decision is, it will change your life forever." The two of you continued to walk until you reached the school gate. Momoi halted and glanced at the ground. "You know..." She averted her eyes towards you. "Dai-chan rarely spoke about you. But when he did, he'd asked me the same question." She smiled but somehow, it felt like she was sad, feeling the pain that Aomine felt. "Do you know what he asked?"

You didn't say anything but instead, you waited. Your heart raced much faster, your stomach clenched tighter and your voice stuck in your throat. Your breathing stopped for a moment when Momoi continued.

"Have you ever tried to forgive yourself?"

He held the ball in his hand, bouncing it lightly on the basketball court. Swinging his body flexibly, he jumped to his side and shoots the ball freely. As usual, his skill never fails. As he landed, the sound of the whistle echoes throughout the gym. Aomine grabbed the collar of his shirt and wiped his sweat that was dripping down his face.

"Oi Aomine!" Wakamatsu called. He turned to his teammate without saying anything. "Good work."

Aomine huff and walks away, ignoring the male who is annoyed by his behavior.
