Chapter 13

It was awkward for a few seconds because the only open seat was right across from Brian and I know Vince didn't want it. I looked at him and nodded over to my seat but he shook his head and sat down, grabbing a plate.

"Jesse, hand me that chicken." Leon said and everything went as close to normal as possible.

"Let's eat some grub man. Want some of that chicken?" Letty asked my brother, hitting him on the back.

We had a good meal with a little awkwardness but it was ignorable. The guys all joked around with each other, going so far as to include Brian in their charades. Mia, Letty, and I joined in when necessary and merited but Letty and I kept our distance from each other. Dom made it a point to have his own conversation with me and the reactions were comical. Vince seemed, I want to say exasperated by the whole thing, annoyed even, Mia thinks it's cute, Leon and Jesse were clowning on him, Letty didn't appreciate it and kept trying to interrupt and move his focus onto her which didn't work, and Brian, well I don't care enough of his opinion to actually look. After dinner, I helped Mia bring the dishes in but Leon and Jesse pulled me into the living room to pick a movie.

"Horror." I told them.

"What? How could you?" Jesse asked.

"She's a horror film buff, loves those shits." Vince said from his place on the sofa.

"You hurt my heart, princess." Leon said.

"So, you obviously want action movies." I smiled.

"Duh." Jesse said.

"But of course." Leon added.

"V?" I asked my brother.

"Horror."

"Ugh, come on!" Leon complained.

"What's all the noise?" Dom asked as he walked in.

He sat on the floor, his back against the sofa and held his hand out for me. I won't lie, I contemplated turning away but the small smile on his face convinced me. I took his hand and let him pull me between his legs so that my back was flush against his chest. Leon was giving me funny looks so I flipped him the bird and smiled when he laughed.

"Alright, what's the big argument about?" Dom asked.

"Movie genre. I vote horror but these two pussies want action. It's a 2-2 tie with V." I told him.

"The twins ganged up on us." Jesse complained.

I looked at my brother and we fist-bumped.

"Dom, looks like you're the winning vote brother." Vince sighed.

"That means we're watching an action movie." I sighed as well.

"How do you know?" Dom asked.

"I know my brother, he sounded disappointed when he spoke which means you're gonna pick an action movie." I replied.

"Yeah, I'm gonna pick an action movie." he chuckled.

"It's early enough that we can fit in two movies." I said, looking up at V.

"Yeah, we can watch one each. First your action and then our horror." he smiled.

"No way!" Jesse and Leon argued.

"That's fair." Dom said.

"What?" Jesse asked.

"Horror first!" Leon said.

"Pussy." I smiled as I got comfortable and leaned back into Dom's chest.

"Give me that at least, horror movie first." Leon insisted.
