I ended up packing for him because the man is just lazy. He thoroughly sexed me up before leaving, satisfying my every need all night long. As soon as the sun was up, my husband was gone. This doesn't seem like a smart idea, but it's a Toretto idea nonetheless.
Saying I didn't care what happened to Letty seems a bit cruel in hindsight. The honest truth is sometimes ugly. I am curious about her death though, what the hell was she involved in that got her killed? Knowing her, it wasn't a smart choice either.
The first two and a half days were just him driving and he called me constantly, which I appreciated greatly. After he got to Echo Park the calls came less frequently but they still came in. He had me look up some information a few times and told me that officer O'Connor was back. The two of them are working together again, Brian on the cop side and Dom on the criminal side, as is usual.
Then there was a three-day stretch of silence that grated my nerves. I had work to do but my husband was always at the back of my mind. My brother did his best to calm me down and offered to fly me out to Brazil but I can't leave. When the phone call came in, I almost dropped the phone with how quickly I grabbed it.
"Dom? Baby, what happened?"
"I'm sorry, Destiny it's Mia." She said in a quiet tone.
"What happened? Is he ... Mia, is ..."
"No, no, no, he's alive." She quickly interrupted.
"Oh fuck, thank God. What happened? Where is he and why are you calling me?" I asked.
"He got arrested." She said and my stomach dropped.
"He what? No, he promised he'd come back. No, that's not possible."
"I'm so sorry, Des."
"Why am I just getting called now?"
"What do you mean?"
"If he needed fucking help, why didn't he call me?"
"He was handling things with Brian but when Brian got hurt Dom let them take him in, said he was tired of running and making you run with him."
"Fucking idiot! What now? I'll be there in three days tops." I asked as I ran around packing my things.
"Now we wait for the first hearing to see what's gonna happen. Brian is gonna try to ..."
"Something always happens whenever that man is around." I growled.
"Please don't ... he's staying here and ..."
"Don't worry, I'll find somewhere else to stay."
"No, don't be silly. You're his wife, this is your house too."
"I don't know about all of that. I've gotta make some arrangements, see you maybe in a few days."
I called my boss as I packed and told him that I'm relocating for the foreseeable future. I told him I don't know what my timeframe is and where the key was for him to have someone get the little bit of equipment that I have here. He offered me an out, an escape route just for me but I can't do that to my husband. I won't leave him and I sure as hell won't abandon him to his luck when he needs me. I just don't know what to expect now and that's what's bothering me.
Since I'm not a fugitive, I caught a flight out to Los Angeles and got myself a hotel room close to the Toretto family house. My laptop was my best friend as I dug for any and all pertinent information. There's no update on Dom as of yet but he's sitting in a damn prison cell instead of in bed with me so I'll be here for the time being. On my third day, I went to see Mia. I stood outside and thought of the last time I was here, being bombarded with all of the negative memories.
"Destiny!" I heard Mia shout and it brought me out of memory lane.
"Hey." I said, returning her hug uncomfortably when she wrapped her arms around me.
"When did you get here?" she asked, looking around for my car I guess.
"Two days ago."
"What? Where have you been staying?"
"A hotel."
"Des, you should be staying here." she said softly.
"Not with him."
"Des ..."
"You might not want to admit it but whenever he's around bad things happen. You're fucking blinded by the blonde hair and pretty baby blues but I'm not Mia. I'm not gonna stay here walking on eggshells around someone I don't like." I told her.
"Fine, I won't argue, just come in ... please. Brian's not here." she sighed.
"Sure ... have you seen my husband?" I asked.
"No, he hasn't been given visitor approval yet. Brian's working on that."
"So what happens now?"
"Now we have to wait for the hearing and to see what they decide. Brian's presented a request for clemency on Dom's behalf, we're hoping it gives us some leeway."
"Right ... I'm gonna go and ..."
"Wait. Destiny, please, we're family and ..."
"Family? Mia, I hold onto grudges like a professional. You choose who your family is depending on what's convenient for you at that moment. I don't operate that way. Then you just let Brian back in? I mean, come on, you're a smart woman Mia. Granted, I'm very well aware that had it not been for Brian, my brother would be dead and I'm appreciative to an extent. I don't like your boyfriend and I'm not going to. So with that being said, it's not a good idea for me to be here when he comes ... back."
"Hey ... Mia." Brian said when he walked into the kitchen. "Destiny ..."
"Yeah, I'm out. Uh, let me know when I can go visit my husband please." I told Mia.
"Husband? You're married?"
"Yes, we're married. You know what, I'm not gonna leave just yet. If you don't mind, officer O'Connor, I would like to know what happened that got my husband arrested." I said, sitting back down.
"I don't ..."
"Not a request, I have a right to know why my husband is in jail."
"Right ... okay, here's what went down."
I remained silent during Brian's storytelling, feeling the anger growing to epic proportions the more he said. Dominic Toretto is a smart man until he isn't and he's the world's biggest idiot.
"So what you're saying is, you gave him the chance to run and he didn't take it?" I asked.
"Yes."
"He chose to let himself get arrested?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, please let me know when I can visit him." I said as I got up and walked out of the house.
As soon as I got back to the hotel, I got on my computer and hacked into the DOJ. I had to dig a little deeper than I wanted but I did grant my husband visitor approval and bounced myself out before I got into trouble. My dearest husband, he's gonna hear me. To top it all off, he didn't even call me to tell me about this. Nope, his sister had to call me. I'm gonna fuck him up on sight as soon as I can.
The next morning I got the call from Mia that Dom has visitor rights and I told her I'm gonna be the first to visit. Being the smart woman that she is, she didn't even try to fight with me on it. I got dressed quickly and went to the prison, waiting impatiently for Dom to be brought into the room. He looked around quickly and I could see the relief when he saw me and smiled when that relief turned to fear briefly.
"Tiny ..."
"Nope."
"Destiny ..." he smiled.
"Nope, I don't think so Toretto."
"Baby, let me explain." he said, softer now.
