Mew didn't eat breakfast with us the next day. Mom said he went to work early because of a prior engagement. I didn't ask more questions. I was sure he's just trying to avoid me.

I should be happy, right? Why am I sad?

So I just ate fast and hurried for school. But just like the other day, I couldn't focus on the discussions at all. My thoughts were screaming Mew Mew Mew. I couldn't stop thinking about him. I couldn't stop missing and longing for him. Even during lunch with my friends, I still kept thinking about that coward.

Is he also thinking of me? Why isn't he making ways to talk to me? Damn him!

I almost jumped when I heard my phone ringing. My friends all turned to me with raised eyebrows. I took my phone out of my pocket. My eyeballs almost popped out when I saw who was calling. I couldn't believe it.

It was Mew.

My heart started beating erratically. I stood up and excused myself from my friends' perplexed faces. I chose an isolated corner in the cafeteria before answering his call. I took a deep breath.

"H-hello..." my voice strained and breathy. My nerves were kicking in.

There was silence on the other line.

My brows furrowed. "Hello?"

I heard someone's labored breathing.

"Mew? Is this you?"

"G-Gulf...." Finally he spoke. His voice sounded different.

"Are you okay? Why did you call?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

I got anxious. He doesn't call me this way. What's going on?

"Gulf..." he said afterwards. "D-did you really m-mean it when y-you said you'll f-forget a-about m-me..? D-do you really w-want me t-to leave you alone?"

I stiffened from where I was standing.

Is he crying?

"D-do you h-hate me now? Do you n-not believe in me anymore?"

I inhaled sharply as my eyes started to get misty. "What are you saying? Where are you?"

I heard him sobbing. It felt like a dagger in my chest.

"Where are you?" I asked again, my voice trembling this time.

He wasn't talking. Then I heard a commotion from the other line. It's as if someone came and started talking to him and was trying to take his phone away.

My heart raced. "Hello, Mew! Mew, are you okay? Talk to me!" Shit!

I only heard Mew saying gibberish things.

"Mew! Hello? Mew, talk to me. Are you okay?" I panicked.

"Opps! Sorry about that. Who's this please?" It was another person on the line.

"Who are you?!" I almost shouted at whoever it was. "Why do have Mew's phone?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. We were just drinking when this guy right here suddenly went ballistic. Who's this, by the way?"

Why isn't he telling me who he is? He makes me angry.

"Gulf." I answered, a bit of an annoyance in my voice. "Who are you?"

"Gulf? Oh, his brother!" the man chuckled on the other line. "Hi, Gulf. It's Owen. Sorry I didn't recognize your voice. Your name isn't registered here as Gulf but as heart emojis instead. What a weird guy. Your brother sure does love you."

I was getting impatient and irritated.

Of course I know how Mew saved my name in his phone. I did the same. Duh! It isn't weird at all. And for the nth time, HE IS NOT MY BROTHER!

"Where is he? Where are you right now? Are you back in town?"

I heard him chuckle. "On the contrary, your brother here is here in the city."

I think my mind just glitched for a few seconds.

What?! he's in the city?

"You didn't know? Sorry, bud." Owen spoke.

I didn't answer. Thinking about Mew being in the city again angered me, well, mostly because I didn't know about it. I thought he's just in the shop. Wow. He's really doing everything to get away from me.

"Anyways, he seems to be calming down now. I didn't know why he suddenly wanted to drink at this hour." Owen continued. "By the looks of it, I think I'll just let him stay overnight. He looks wasted. Don't worry, we're here in my condo."

I wasn't happy about him staying overnight in the city again. However, I had no other choice. He was intoxicated. He cannot be driving back home in his state.

"Will he be okay?"

Owen laughed. "Of course. Your brother is a tough guy. He's just probably not used to drinking premium vodka but he'll be fine."

I didn't answer.

As long as he'll be fine and will come home safe...

I heard a sound of a buzzer.

"Oh! I think Amanda just arrived. She'll also be staying over."

My mind went black for a second.

Excuse me?!

Did I hear it right? Amanda is there and will be staying over?

Hello no!

Owen continued assuring me of Mew's safety. "Don't worry. He'll be safe here. We will take care of your brother for you."

I was trying to calm down my inner beast. I wanted to scream at Owen and tell him to get Mew the hell away from Amanda at once. Anger and irritation got the best of me.

"Gotta go, bud!"

"Wait, hold on!" I quickly called him.

"Yes?"

I clenched my fist before saying, "Text me your address. I'll go and get him."
