Kinnick waited for me to get inside like he did every time he dropped me off. My hand lifted, giving him one last wave before I closed the door to my house. It wasn't until I heard the lock click that his truck roared to life behind me. I peeked through the window to see him drive away with one last glance in my direction as if he were waiting for me to reappear.
The cool air made it impossible for me to get warm, and somewhere during our trip, Kinnick lent me his jacket. After intense cardio, I wasn't sure if I could make it to his fights tonight. I found it difficult to walk up the steps to my porch. My legs were practically on fire, and I was burning to a crisp.
When arms suddenly wrapped around my body, I felt the air in my lungs exit my lips. Before the body had a chance to wrestle me to the ground, I turned to see Chrissy. It was moments like this that I struggled not to panic, but I could feel the attack creeping up on me.
"You have a boyfriend!"
I shake my head, sucking in a deep breath as I calmed myself from panicking. "No, I do not."
"We have to go to my house," she ignored me.
I looked down at my attire. "I'm wearing nothing but a jacket over spandex and a sports bra -"
"So," she shrugged. "The only person there is Luke."
Her fingers curled with mine to lead me back out the front door. I looked at her skeptically as she pulled out two packages of face maks. My brow cocked in confusion as she ripped the package open with her teeth. A smile filled her features. After watching Tyler do it with countless condoms, she wanted to try it.
As I tried placing the blue mask on my skin, she whipped her Jeep around the corner. I sucked in a deep breath as the sound of horns filled my ears. She looked down from her mirror, mumbling curse words.
"Keep your eyes on the road," I scolded.
She nodded. "Good idea."
The cool substance slid across my skin, attempting to stick to the sweat on my face. Chrissy told me how sexy I looked in my workout outfit. When Kinnick's scent caught my nose, I let my eyes flutter shut. It wasn't until Chrissy started cursing that they shot open to see what she was talking about.
We pulled in front of her house to see cars parked in the driveway that didn't belong to Luke or her parents. It didn't take long to figure out it was the football team. The Wolverine stickers were a dead giveaway.
Chrissy left her car on as she shot out of her car, throwing the front door open. I hurried behind her as I tugged at my spandex. I believed her when she said she was going to kill Luke. The way the door slammed as we stepped inside said so. She gained the attention of everyone. Chrissy was notorious for making grand entrances.
I could hear football playing on their TV before we made it to the living room. One of Luke's friends shot up from his seat on the couch. Chrissy launched a shoe in his direction, smacking him in the shoulder as he asked her what the eff she wanted.
I watched as Tyler stood to his feet. "Babe, I didn't know you were going to be here today. What's up, Bo?"
I smiled, giving him a small wave before Chrissy pulled him toward the stairwell. I sucked in a deep breath because I was fully aware of what would happen. The suggestive looks and bedroom eyes were small but practical hints. I jumped at the sound of Luke stumbling to the side as he came around the couch.
He smoothed his shirt out, pulling on the ends of his shorts to straighten them out. I listened to everyone laugh at him as his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Bo, hey."
