Unexpected Reunion

Consequences

     I woke up in a hospital room and the first person I saw was Katie holding my hand. I squeezed her fingers hoping to get her attention.

"Saint, oh my god, you gave us a huge scare there, are you ok?"  I nodded my head.

"Where is Shane?"

"Linda and Tyler dragged him off to grab some food.  He didn't want to leave you, but we made him.  Are you sure you are ok though?"

I started to nod my head again but then I started shaking it and crying.  "No, I'm not alright Katie. I fucked up and Shane is going to hate me and never speak to me again."  I started crying and Katie grabbed me in a hug.  After I calmed down, she sat back down in her chair.

"Talk to me, sweetie.  Tell me what happened that was so wrong?" I sat up a little bit.

"I slept with Damon before the wedding!" And then I was bawling again.  Katie just got right back on the bed and was hugging me. She pulled back and looked me in the eye.

"I need to know what happened,"  I told her everything from after Ava and her gun, to Damon showing up twice, to us making love, and to him telling me that he still wants to be with me. When I was done, I took the chance to look up at her and she had no judgment on her face.

"Listen I know that you love Shane and don't want to hurt him.  But you have to tell him what happened.  I mean I don't think you can ever really move forward until you tell him the truth.  And yes, it's going to hurt him but it's the only way.  Do you still love Damon?" I nodded my head.

"I do, I really do.  I didn't know I still did until I saw him, and I tried to resist but just being near him makes my heart beat like I was just in a marathon. And everything feels so right when I'm with him.  But then there is Shane.  The sweetest, nicest guy in the world.  Any girl would be lucky to have him, and I just did the most fucked up thing I could to him!"

"I'm sorry that you are going through this.  I knew seeing Damon might be an issue, I just didn't realize it would be this whole huge blow-up!"  Then she climbed further up on my bed, and we just relaxed for a little bit.  I told Katie to go check on Sadie since I was sure that Shane would be back soon. And as soon as she was gone Damon showed up.

"What are you doing here?"

"My mom called me and said you fainted and were in the hospital.  I had to make sure that you were alright. I'll leave if you want me to."  I patted the bed next to me and he sat down.

"Thank you for your concern.  I am fine though."  He touched my hand. "What happened?"

"The doctors didn't really say but it was just a little fainting spell, probably from dehydration or something."  Then I heard Shane at the door.

"Are you freaking kidding me right now!"  Damon and I both turned our heads to look toward Shane.

"Shane it's ok, he just heard from his mom what happened and was checking in that's all."  Shane relaxed a little bit and walked over to the bed.

"Well now that I am here, her fiancé, you can leave Damon."  Damon stood up and looked down at my hand at the same time I did. I didn't even notice that I was wearing the ring until now.

"Alright, then I will leave the lovely couple alone."  Before Damon walked out the door, I called out to him.

"Damon, wait!"  Both Shane and Damon looked over at me.  I knew that it was now or never. I had to tell the truth, consequences be damned.

"Shane there is something that I need to tell you." Shane sat down in the chair next to the bed and grabbed my hand.

"You can tell me anything.  But why does he have to be here? Can't we just be alone?" I shook my head.
