Unexpected Reunion

The Aftermath

     I wasn't kidding when I said Shane ignored me for 3 whole weeks!  He was barely home and when he was home, he was shut in his room the whole time.  I missed him and although I knew he was mad I thought this was a little excessive.  One day I came out into the living room and was surprised to see him there.

"So, I'm going to go over to Katie's house.  Do you think we can talk when I get home?"  He didn't even look at me before he said.

"Maybe, I'll think about it."  I walked over to him and grabbed the remote from his hand, then I turned off the tv.

"Come on Shane. How much longer are you going to punish me?  Yes, I made a mistake, but I told you about it and was hoping that we could sit down and figure out what to do next."  He crossed his arms and finally looked up at me.  I could see he was hurting but we needed to talk.

"Have you spoken to Damon since we got back?" 

"He texted me the day I got back to make sure I was alright but that was it.  There has been no contact since then.  I wanted to sit down and talk with you before anything else."  He leaned back as he was looking at me.

"Fine, when you get back from Katie's we can talk."  Then he grabbed the remote and turned the tv back on and was right back to ignoring me.

"Thank you, Shane,"  I told him as I was walking out the door.

I walked into Katie's house and called out for anybody, but no one was home.  But then I heard the lawnmower in the backyard, so someone had to have been here.  I walked out back and saw Josh. 

"Hey, Josh!"  I waved at him.  He turned off the lawnmower and waved back to me.

"Hey Saint, how's it going? Katie and Sadie aren't here, they are at a checkup at the doctor's."

I felt my shoulders fall. "Alright, I guess I will leave you to your mowing."  But Josh waved me over to their swing.

"Come sit and talk with me, I may be able to help."  I walked over and sat down.

I told him everything that was happening and how Shane finally said he would talk to me.  I also told him how terrified I was about what he was going to say. He turned to look at me and sighed.

"Well Saint, it's like this.  It seems to me you need to figure out where your heart truly lies.  I mean Shane is a great guy who treats you right and Damon is...Damon is a whole heap of trouble.  You know Damon and I never really got along so I will tell you the truth.  I've seen you with Damon and when you guys were together it was amazing between you two, I could tell.  I don't know if any other guy ever stood a chance after that." 

I took a deep breath because he was making a lot of sense.  "So, you're saying I should choose Damon?"  But Josh shook his head.

"I didn't say that.  I'm not saying don't choose him either, and again I'm not a huge fan of him so my saying that is saying a lot.  But you need to think about the long term. If Shane is where your heart lies, then be with Shane. If Damon is where your heart lies, be with Damon.  Try to think of it like this.  You're in the hospital having your first baby.  When you look up at the daddy whose face do you see?  That might help you with your choice."  

I hugged Josh. "Damn Josh, how much Dr. Phil have you been watching?" He just shrugged his shoulders.

"No, I mean it, thank you, Josh.  This has helped a ton!"  Just then I heard the lovely sound of Sadie. 

 "Daddy, I got a boo-boo!"

Josh got up. "Duty calls! Come here princess and daddy will kiss it all better!"  Katie came over to sit by me. I watched as Josh picked Sadie up and was kissing her all over her face while she giggled.
