Chapter 4: Hang-Over

      Kayla woke up to the beeping of the alarm clock next to the guest bed in the room she was staying in at Missy's. She rolled over and hit the snooze button and looked at the time. It was already 7am. She raised up but quickly felt the pounding in her head so she laid back down. A few minutes later Missy walked in with a glass of water in one hand and a couple of pills in the other. "Up, and here." she said. "Asprin?" Kayla asked. "Yep." Missy responded. "You are an angel." Kayla said sitting up and taking the water and asprin from Missy. "Hey if i was as messed up as you were last night I would need asprin too." She said. "wow i barely remember anything from last night. Did i really get that bad?" She asked. "Well just to put it in prespective for you, Scott had to all but physically carry you to the car, then he had to help you get in it." She said. "Oh my, yeah that is bad." Kayla said. Missy laughed "At least you had fun and forgot about Randy for a while." Missy said. "Yeah But im paying for it now." Kayla said grabbing her head. "Sorry but you got to get up. Your mom would never let do that again if you skipped school the day after due to a hangover." Missy said. "For once i have to agree with you." Kayla said. Right then the alarm started going off again. "Okay that is my cue to get up and get dressed. Missy can i borrow some clothes?" Kayla asked. "I already got some for you. They are in the bathroom." She said. "Thanks." Kayla said.

     Kayla got up and went into the bathroom she looked at the clothes Missy had lent her. To Kayla's relief Missy had given her "normal" clothes, A pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a fitted t-shirt that had a picture of blood tipped fangs on it that said "bite me" Kayla laughed to herself, that shirt was really how she felt. She turned on the water in the shower ajusted to temp before getting undressed and getting in. Feeling the hot water run over her body helped her to relax a little while bathing herself her thoughts drifted back to the night before. When she was talking to Zane. She remembered falling asleep last night thinking about him. Then she remembered how he had just taken off while they were talking. The smile she didnt even realize she had, faded from her face as she got out of the shower. she dried off and put the clothes on and left the bathroom. Once she was back in the guest room she picked up her purse and started applying her make up. The whole time she was thinking about Zane. Trying to decide if she really wanted to talk to him again or not. When she was done with her make up she looked at her hair and decided a messy bun it was. When she was done she grabbed her backpack and went downstairs. "Missy are you ready to go?" Kayla asked. "Yep. let's go." she said. Missy only lived 5 minutes away from the school so getting there was quick. When they got there they still had 15 minutes before the first bell would ring. "I got to go to my locker. What about you?" Missy said. "Might as well. I need to drop my backpack off." Kayla said. Their lockers were right beside each other, They had bought them at the same time to make sure if it. Kayla was putting here bag in the locker and listening to Missy talk about how her and Scott had gotten back together last night, when all of a sudden she just stopped talking mid sentence. "Missy you okay?" Kayla asked while she was getting everything she was going to need for her first class. When she didnt answer she looked over at her friend who was staring behind her. Kayla turned and seen Zane a few lockers down from her. To her surprise her heartbeat quicken and she realized she was happy to see him. When he closed his locker he looked right at her and started walking towards her, which made butterflies form in her stomach. When he reached her  he ran a hand trough his dark brown almost black hair. "Hey i was hoping to see you today." He said. Even though she was happy to see him she wasnt going to let him off the hook that easily.  "Why is that? So you can run off on me again?" She said closing her locker, that is when she noticed Missy was still standing there. "Hey Missy, ill meet you in class." she whispered to Missy. "Yeah okay." Missy said turning and walking down the hall. Kayla turned back to Zane. "Your mad." He said. "No im confused on why you just up and left when we were having a great conversation." She said. "Well it is embarassing but i had a little too much to drink last night and i felt like i was going to get sick so to save myself some embarrassment i left before you could see it or worse it got on you." he said. Kayla was looking down at her shoes, not sure if she should believe him or not. She figured that she could give him a hard time a little longer. "You could have come back." She said. "Would you have been there?" He asked. "Okay you got me there." She said no longer able to keep back the smile, she had been fighting since she seen him. "It still wasnt very nice of you to just take off though." she said. "I know and im sorry." he said. "Your forgiven. So what class do have?" She asked. "History. You?" He said. "Spanish." She answered. "Mind if i walk you to class?" He asked. "I dont mind." Kayla said. They turned and started walking down the hall. She couldnt help but notice that people were staring at them and for some reason she didnt care. She liked being around Zane. From the first time she had talked to him.
