Chapter 16: decisions

                                                          Kayla

     Kayla was sitting in her room waiting on Zane to arrive. She had texted him as soon as her parents got home which was almost 20 minutes ago. Then she sen his car coming down the road. She went to her dad who was sitting in the living room. "Hey dad." she said. "Hey sweetie." He answered without looking up from the paper he was reading. "Dad I need you to sit down and talk with me and Zane." She said. This made him put his paper aside. Mark sighed "When?" he asked. Before Kayla could answer the door bell rang. Kayla gave her dad a small smile. "Now." She said. Mark got up and answered the door. Standing there was Zane. "Hello Zane please come in." He said. Mark looked from Zane to Kayla "So Kayla tells me you both need to talk to me about something." Mark said. "Yes sir, Its really important." Zane said. "Well lets go to my office and talk." Kayla's dad said. Kayla and Zane followed Mark to his office. When they were safley inside Mark closed the door behind them. "So what is this all about?" Mark asked when he sat down in the desk chair. "Well you know how Zane and his mom is pretty much wanted by the vampire elder's right?" Kayla said. "Yes." Mark said. Kayla couldnt help but notice the dislike look cross her father's face. "Well Zane has explained everything to me. Basically his father broke a law that the punishment is death and when the vampier elders found out about what he had been doing blamed everything on Lisa. So she was sentenced to death instead of Zane's dad. So she packed up her and Zane's belongings and ran. While they were running the elders eventually found out that Zane's dad had lied. But since Lisa didnt bow to the elders verdit she remained marked. A few years ago Zane was caught and told to bring his mom in but he didnt so that is why he is marked now as well. So dad you see they are both innocent, They did nothing wrong." Kayla said. "I do see that. But i must ask what your father had done." Mark asked. "He broke a unforgivable law, he kidnapped a women and held her prisoner so he could feed off of her." Zane said. "Okay so both you and your mom is innocent but are still being hunted anyway. I will never understand the vampire justice system." Mark said. "So you dont think it is right either?" Kayla asked. "Of course it is not right." Mark said. "I am happy you said that, Cause there is more. Last night when Zane and his mom got home they discovered that the elders have found them and they have 48 hours to turn them selves in before they come and take them. Normally they would run but Zane doesnt want to leave me for fear they will use me to get to him and i cant just leave because i have duties here and to the pack." Kayla said. "Kayla what are you getting at?" Mark asked. "Im asking you to call the pack in for a meeting explain what is going on and see if they would be willing to help protect their future luna's mate. Then maybe we can call a meeting with the Vampire elders and see if we can work out some kind of deal." Kayla said. "Kayla what you are asking for could be either a really great idea and the ending be good or it could end very badly with many lives lost on both sides." Mark said. "Dad i understand that which is why i said let the pack vote on it." Kayla said. "What happens if the pack says no?" Mark asked. Kayla took a deep breath "Then i will leave with Zane." Kayla said. "What?" Zane and Mark said at the same time. "Zane is my mate and you should know what that means. I will be with him no matter what." Kayla said. "Fine I will call for a meeting tonight to see what the pack has to say." Mark said. "Thank you daddy." Kayla said hugging him. "Dont thank me yet." Mark said.
