Unnatural Love

Chapter 3: Self-Control (part 2)

    Zane was now laying his bed thinking to him self 'Great i probably just ruined any chance i had of getting to know Kayla by running off like that. But i had too because i had lost control.' Knowing that he wasnt going to be able to sleep he got up and went downstairs. He was surprised to see his mom up sitting on the couch. "Hey mom what are you doing up?" He asked. "A lot on my mind i guess. What about you?" She said. "Same. Mom there is something really strange going on with me." He said knowing she might not be able to help but figured he might as well try. "Well like what?" She asked giving him her full attention. "When i went to the mall today i got hit with this overwhelming intoxicating scent i noticed it was coming from a couple girls i couldnt pin point which one so i showed up at the party they were talking about going to. Long story short i figured out which one it was her name is Kayla. Mom she is in all honesty the most beautiful girl i have ever seen. Her green eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight and when we touched it seemed like a spark traveled trough my body and all of a sudden i became very protective of her. Something in side me told me that i have to protect her for the rest of my life because she was mine. It was all i could do not to pull her to me and hold her close and never let her go. And as if that wasnt enough the next time the wind blew it made her scent hit me right in my face and as if it wasnt bad enough to begin with, after we touched her scent got more powerful and more desirable than it had been before. I had to rush away from her because i was loosing my control. My fangs even popped out." Zane finally finished. His mom had closed her eyes by now and bowed her head but still hadnt said anything. After a long silence she spoke "I was hoping that your father would be here to explain this to you if it ever came to it but seeing as how he is not looks like it is my job. Zane how did Kayla react to your touch?" She asked. "She didnt seem very affected by it." He said. His mom took another deep breath. "Zane from what you are explaining it sounds like you have found your mate but obviously since she didnt react the same way as you did, she is human am i right?" She asked. "Well from what i could smell out of her scent she is." He said. "Well that complacites things a bit. You see when we meaning vampires find our mates 9 out of 10 times they are both vampires so there is really no big deal there. However on certin occassions one is human while the other is a vampire. There have been couples that lived their lives that way the vampire out lives his soul mate and waits years for him or her to come around again. And more often the human decides to become a vampire and live forever with the other. Are you with me so far.?" She asked. "Yeah i am." He answered. "Good now with two vampires the atterication and love is automaticly there. But with a human and a vampire it takes a little more time for the human to feel the bond that you did right from the start. Sometimes it takes years for it to happen. So you are going to have to be patient. I know you will never leave her and i would never ask you too. But you need to ask your self if this is the kind of world you want to bring her into. Especially with the situation we are in due to your father's actions." She said. "Mom i cant help it. I dont want to be away from her i cant get her out of my mind, she is all i think about every since i caught her scent in the mall." He said. "Honey i cant say i know how you feel because unfortantly i have yet to find my true mate. But i do love your father so i know of just a fraction on how you feel. No one can tell you what to do she is your mate and only you and eventually her will know the right road to take that is best for you both." She said. "So the scent i got from her is that how she will smell to everyone?" He asked. "Of course not that scent is for you and only you. It is like a biological map to the person you are ment to be with. To any one else she will have her own scent like all humans have a unique smell but it will be nothing like what you can smell from her." She said. "So im guessing the protective thing is totally normal?" He asked. "Yes it is. But if you want to get close to her you have got to keep yourself in check at all times, No matter what. This is where all those lessons of self control come into play." She said standing up and walking out of the room. 'Great this is going to one hard task to do but she is mine and i will do what ever it takes to make  her see that.' He thought to himself. "Mom one more thing? She will be at school tomorrow, how am i going to explain my abrupt exit?" He asked. His mom laughed "Well there was drinking at this party right?" She asked. "Yeah." He answered. "Well son, this is where you take one for love. Tell her you cant handle your liquior. You had to leave because you were afraid of embarrassing your self by puking in front or on her." She said with a chuckle. "Thanks for the advice but that will be the last resort if i cant think of anything better." He said as she exited the room.
