Chapter 7: Happy Birthday

                 Later that night Kayla was laying in bed trying to go to sleep when some one knocked on the front door. Kayla looked at her alarm clock and seen it was almost 11pm. "Who in the world could that be?" But before she could guess She heard the unmistakeable voice of Randy. Kayla got up and went to the top of the stairs and listened, "Im telling you that boy is bad news. I think you need to tell Kayla to stay away from him. Zane threatened me today at school for no reason." Randy was saying. that really ticked Kayla off. She stormed down stairs and looked Randy right in his eyes. "Why are you lying to my dad? Incase you forgot i was right there today and Zane never threaten you! he was telling you the truth and you couldnt take it!" Kayla's dad held up one hand and they both knew he ment that they needed to be quietr for a minute. "Okay. Now first off im guessing zane was the guy that brought you home today and i saw you kissing in the car." Kayla nodded yes. "Now Kayla i want you to tell me everything that happened Between Randy and this Zane person." He said. Kayla took a deep breath and told him everything that happened from the first night her and Zane had meet all the way up to what happened in the gym. but not going into details about why Randy had broken up with her. When Kayla finished she could tell her dad was mad and by this point her mom had joined them and was listening. "Randy i am only going to ask this one time and you better not lie, is everything that Kayla just tell me true?" he said. Randy bowed his head and looked at his shoes. "Yes." He said. "So let me get this stright You come here late at night to lie to me so that i will tell my daughter to stay away from the guy she likes because your jealous of him? After finding out you broke her heart becausse she wouldnt have sex with you! you have some nerve! and even though i have never meet this guy i think i already like Zane because he told you exactly what you needed to hear, Now if i hear of you harrassing my daughter any more there will be reprecustions do you understand? She has enough to worry about right now she doesnt need her ex bothering her. Are we clear?" her dad said. "im telling you this guy is bad for her, she is going to end up getting her heartbroken." Randy said. "I ASKED YOU A QUEATION AND I WANT AN ANSWER! ARE WE CLEAR ABOUT YOU LEAVING KAYLA ALONE!?" Her dad bursted. you could feel the authority dripping from his tone of voice. Randy flinched and bowed his head once again. "y...ye...yes s...sir." Randy stammered out. Kayla had to fight the urge to flinch and drop her head and she didnt know why, her dad wasnt yelling at her. "Good now get out of my house!" Her dad said. Randy quickly turned and left the house. "Kayla i didnt mean for you to hear me yell like that, Im sorry." her dad said. "its okay daddy." she said. "Now this Zane guy, do you believe he is safe to be around?" her dad asked. "yes i do." Kayla said. "well as long as you think so. you have never given me a reason not to trust your judgements." He said. Kayla told her parents good night and went back to bed. She tossed and turned for a while excited that her birthday was tomorrow when she got a text on her phonefrom a number she didnt reconize:

Text: Hey its zane wanted to be the first to tell you happy birthday.

Kayla smiled to herself as she texted him back.

Kayla: thanks. So am i still seeing you in the morning?

Zane: of course unless you changed your mind.

Kayla: not a chance.

Zane: Thats good to hear. im going to let you go now, dont want you to be sleepy for your birthday. Goodnight and sweet dreams.

Kayla: good night and sweet dreams to you too.

Kayla put her phone down and resumed trying to fall asleep. her last thoughts before entering a deep slumber was that she just might be falling for Zane. After only knowing him for a coulpe of days, and for some werid reason that was okay with her.
