What will Troy reveal to his mother?

------

Troy enters his room and lies down on his bed deep in thought.

Lucille places her hand on Troy's arm and says, "Talk to mama, baby. Tell me what happened."

Troy replies, "The guys all ambushed me today during lunch time practice. All of them were going on about me being distracted because I was doing the callbacks. Apparently if I'm distracted the team will lose the championship game. I tried to explain that I'm not the only player on the team and all that, but they wouldn't listen. Chad kept pushing so I said some things that I regretted the moment I had said them. They all said that I wasn't working hard enough and that Dad was disappointed in me."

Lucille says, "Well firstly, those boys are idiots if they think you don't take your commitments seriously. Do those boys even know the number of training sessions you have in a day? You already push yourself harder than the rest of them because you like to lead by example. What else do they want from you?"

She pauses for a moment and continues, "As for your father, I know that he is not disappointed in you. Troy you're his son and he will always love you."

Troy replies, "You sure about that because he's been angry since he came to know about the auditions. It's like he doesn't even believe in me anymore."

Lucille says, "I know he's been angry but it's not because he's actually mad at you. I promise that your father will come around okay sweetie. As for your friends, they had no right to ambush you like that. I can't believe Chad would do something like this when he claims to be your best friend."

Troy sighs and replies, "I think I want to sleep now mama. Good night and thank you."

Lucille kisses her son's forehead and says, "Good night darling and remember that I'm always here whenever you need me."

Troy nods and then turns away from the door while Lucille sighs and leaves the room.

------

Lucille was annoyed with Jack for the way he had made their son feel.

Troy had always looked up to his father and did everything he could to make him proud.

Lucille was also mad at the team for even saying that Jack was disappointed in Troy.

Thanks to Jack's recent actions, Troy even believed the idiots who called themselves his friends.

------

Lucille finds her husband in his study, so she enters the room and glares at him.

Jack looks confused and asks, "What happened, Luce?"

Lucille crosses her arms and asks, "Why are you angry at our son?"

Jack sighs knowing he had to answer honestly otherwise he would risk angering his wife even more. Lucille was usually a very sweet woman but when it came to protecting their son, she could be vicious.

He says, "You probably already know about him auditioning for the stupid musical. He missed practice for the first time in three years because of that girl who got him in the musicals in the first place. The championship game is next week and he goes ahead and signs up for something like this. He's a playmaker not a singer."

Lucille replies, "Our niece Kelsi is the composer of the 'stupid' musical and 'that girl' has a name. I'll admit the timing probably wasn't the best, but Troy is still working just as hard. So, what if he missed one single practice out of all the ones you make him do both in school and at home. Troy already works harder than any of your other students because he doesn't want people to accuse you of favouritism. Did you know that your oh so wonderful students told him today that you are disappointed in him because of the musical? And you know what's worse is that Troy actually believes them because of the way you've been acting. Our son feels like you don't believe in him anymore on top of being betrayed by his supposed friends."

Jack looks surprised and says, "I didn't know about that. I didn't mean to make him feel like that. And what exactly did the team do?"

Lucille replies, "I know you didn't. I tried to convince him of that but I'm not sure if he believes that. As for the team, they all ambushed him during the lunch practice and accused him of not being committed. According to them, if Troy is distracted then they'll lose the championship game."

Jack says, "But basketball is a team sport. There are 11 more players on the team."

Lucille replies, "I don't know what's going on in their heads, but I am not happy with them making Troy feel bad. They call themselves Troy's friends and then treat him like this."

Jack says, "I'll try to understand what is going on first before I talk to them."

Jack treated those boys like his own children, but he never thought they could be so cruel to his son and their captain.

Lucille sternly says, "Well until they apologise to Troy, they are not allowed to enter my house. And you mister will sort things out with Troy as soon as possible."

With that she leaves the room and Jack groans knowing that the team will have to sort out their problems soon.

He hadn't meant to hurt his son but unfortunately, he had hurt him to the extent that Troy didn't think that his father believed in him anymore.

------

The next day Troy spends most of the morning practising on the court in his backyard.

He finds himself incapable of making a single basket.

Jack also notices this and is about to go to talk to his son when Troy throws the ball at the fence in frustration.

Jack decides to give his son some time to cool off.

As a coach, he is now worried about his star player but as a father he didn't know what to do.

Troy never talked to him about his feelings and he didn't want to make his son feel uncomfortable.

He had noticed his son's decreased appetite, but he left his wife to deal with the issue.

Troy was a rather active boy who loved to eat enough for two claiming he was a growing boy.

The boy in front of him was practically a stranger.

Jack knew that he had to make things right with his son, but he didn't know how.

He avoided talking about basketball all the time in an attempt to help his son.

Troy seemed to be slightly grateful for that, so Jack took that as a win.

------

The weekend went on but there wasn't much change in Troy's mood.

He was playing around with his breakfast until Lucille threatened to feed him herself if he didn't pick up the pace.

Troy didn't want to go to school to be ignored by Gabriella and have the team on his back again.
