Chad had noticed that all the members of the basketball team had been forgiven by Troy.
He had seen all of them go to Troy one by one and apologise to both him and Gabriella.
Troy and Gabriella seemed to have forgiven all those who came to apologise.

Chad had noticed the sudden closeness between his former best friend and the new girl.
He had also noticed the ever-present smile on Troy's face and finally understood just how important Gabriella was to him.
Chad was now ashamed of his actions which had clearly caused more harm to Troy than he had originally thought.
He finally understood why his former best friend had been so angry with him after the incident.
Chad also didn't want to cause Troy any more problems after the warning he got from Coach Bolton.

Chad might never admit it but when he had seen his former best friend collapse, he had been absolutely terrified.
He didn't know whether or not he would be forgiven by Troy, but he had to try.
He really hoped that his former best friend would not be too furious to even listen to him.
Troy wasn't one to hold grudges usually, but he was also not someone who lost his temper like he had last week.
He was terrified of his former best friend after their last encounter.

Chad also understood why the woman who was like a second mother to him had been so furious with him.
Troy's well-being always came first for Lucille regardless of who had hurt him.
He had seen Lucille scold her own husband for pushing her son too hard.
Chad knew that to earn Lucille's forgiveness he would have to prove that he had changed his thinking.
He would have to prove to Lucille that he would not hurt Troy due to something as pointless as popularity and the status quo.

The first step however was apologising to Troy and hoping that he would forgive him.
Troy had been hurt deeply by his actions so Chad would have to prove that he had changed.
He would have to prove that he would be more accepting of Troy's new friends and interests.
He decided to try and talk to Troy alone first to try and see if he could apologise to him first.

The task of clearing things up with Troy was particularly difficult considering that the boy was almost never left alone.
After lunch, Chad followed Troy and Kelsi hoping he might get his chance to talk.
Gabriella had left the cafeteria with her boyfriend and her friend, but she had parted ways to go to her own locker.
Kelsi had a class while her cousin and her friend had a free period, so she walked with her cousin to his locker.
