Chapter 23:

So sorry it's been taking me so long to update but i'm getting closer to the end of the book and i'v discovered that is when i start experiencing writers block. God is my inspiration so he gives me thing when needed (:

Chapter 23:

"Why did he come here?" Avlon askks later that night. I look down at her and she moves herself to look at me better. Lying her head on my chest she stares at me waiting for my reply.

"He wanted to take you with him."

Her eyes widen horrified. "Why?"

"He believes that i stole you and he wanted you back."

"You didnt steal me." she says sitting up. "You saved me."

Gently i pull her back to me holding her tight. I dont like to think of someone taking her from me. "I know baby but he wants you, so he would say anything to get you."

"I dont wanna go with him."

Kissing the top of her head i say "You dont have to Angle because im not letting anyone take you away from me."

"Good because i love you and i want to stay here with you and Walter."

"I love you and as long as you want to stay im not letting you go." Some day when she gets out into the world she may find someone else. I dont want that to happen but sometimes she does and if she finds someone else ill let her go because i love her and want her to be happy.

"I'll always want to stay with you." She says looking up at me. With a smile i kiss her cheek happily.

"Do you want pizza?"

"Yes." she says turning to me. "But i want to go to church more."

My eyes widen and i look at her in disbelief. She must not have thought that much for her grandfather just showing up today. "Tomorrow?" She nods slowly confused.

"Do you want me to?"

"Yes baby i would love for you to go to church with me. Are you sure your ready?"

Avlon nods and smiles. "I'm ready but we just have to sit away from everyone."

"Thats fine Angle we will sit where ever you want to."

"No ones here yet." she states looking around the vacant parking lot.

Last night i figured that if we came early and got a seat in the back that she wouldnt have to walk past all of the people and she'd be more comfortable. She could sit and watch as they all make their way to their seats. "I know the'll start coming in a few minutes. Do you want to sit?"

Nodding she takes my hand and sits in the last pew looking around in interest. "I want a window with colors." she states looking at the stain glass window taking up the front of the church.

"What kind?"

She shrugs checking it out. "A rainbow."

"Why a rainbow?"

She turns looking at me. "Last week when the water fell Savannah said that God made rainbows as a promise to us."

I raise an eyebrow amazed that she would want a rainbow because of a God she knows nothing about. That just tells you he has a place in her heart. "He did. Do you know what that promise was?" i ask and she shakes her head. "He promised that he would never flood the earth again and to seal it he made rainbows."

"Why did he flood earth?"

"He was saddened by all of the disobedience and violence so he flooded it for a fresh start."

"Is he still saddened?" she asks quietly.

"I think he is sometimes but each time someone gives their life to him he and the angles are rejoicing."

"What if i accepted him?"

I smile tickling her sides. "He would be most happy." she giggles but quiets down when she hears voices.

Walter walks in the church with Zoe. They come to say good morning and Avlons quiet the whole time just watching as more people file in the church. When Matthew comes to greet me she scoots closer to me grabbing onto my arm.

"Dallas how have you been? I didnt see you last week."

"No, Avlon needed me last week but i had a study of my own."

"Ahh this is Avlon?" He says turning his head to Avlon.

"Yes this is my Angle. Avlon this is Matthew he's the pastors son and a great friend."

"Hello." She says sweetly but quietly.

"Hello it's nice to finally meet you. Dallas tells us all about you."

"Seems like he tells a lot of people." She mumbles squeezing my bicep.

"He does Matthew says with a chuckle. "Ill see yall after church?" He asks and i nod in agreement.

"He seems nice." Avlon whispers and i smile nodding.

"He doesn't seem nice he is nice Angle."

"Whats his daddy's name?" She asks following Matthew and his fiance to their seats.

"Pastor Warren but his names Douglas." He walks onto the altar and i point to him showing her thats him. She nods looking him over. Hes an older man or about sixty but hes still alive and well.

"Good morning everyone." Pastor says with a big smile getting the service started.

"What did you think?" I ask Avlon after the service.

"I didnt really understand all of it. I understood that God has a plan for all of us and wouldnt put us through anything we cant handle. Im guessing he knew everything i went through i could handle. Still i want to know why he asked me to go through it?"

I dont know why he put her through all of that but i do know it made her stronger than she was. She is the strongest person i have ever met. She went through rape starvation and beatings to be the great woman she is today. "No one but God knows why you went through all of that. Pray and ask him and if he wants you to know he'll give you the answers."

"How does he give me the answers?" she aks curiously.

"Many ways. If he knows you wont be frightened he'll speak directly to you or you can dream it. Theirs many ways he can give you the answers you want."
