Chapter 15: Pressure Test

The packs in Liv's dad's office and he says, "I'm not letting them out. We've got two bodies covered in slash marks. They confessed to killing two people." Scott says, "Hunters." Liv's dad says, "People, Scott. Self-defense or not, they're still here, the other guys are dead. And there's a process I have to follow." Liv says, "Yeah, but you know what's happening around here. It's not safe for them." Her dad says, "This may actually be the safest place for them in Beacon Hills. At least I can protect them here." Lydia says, "Would Stiles think that?" Malia says, "Especially if one of your Deputies is working for Gerard?" Liv's dad says, "I'm not buying that. I know these deputies like the back of my hand. I know their families, their kids, their brothers and sisters. I know who they are, and I trust them." Liam says, "You knew who they were. There's something out there. Everyone's afraid. And it's getting worse." Scott says, "Yeah, you can't protect two werewolves from hunters if they're already on the inside." Liv's dad looks behind the pack and says, "It's Quinn, right? You're sure it was a deputy who shot you? Absolutely, 100% sure?" Quinn nods her head and says, "I saw flashing lights. A police car. I... I saw a badge, a gun, and then they shot me. They shot me in the head and that's all that I remember." Liv's dad says, "There are a couple holes in her story." Lydia says, "Maybe because there's a hole in her head." Malia chuckles and everyone looks at Malia and she says, "I'm sorry." Liv says, "Dad, we need to get Jiang and Tierney out here before anyone realizes that they're here." Her dad says, "And take them where? I can't let them go." Lydia says, "But if you keep them here, they're..." Her dad says, "Look, if there's a problem..." Then there's an explosion outside. Her dad says, "Get away from the windows! Put those guns away!" Parrish says, "I'm guessing you know who's out there." Liv's dad says, "I got a pretty good idea." Parrish says, "They'll be armed to the teeth." Liv's dad says, "Which is why I won't be." Parrish says, "I'm going with you." Liv's dad says, "No, you're gonna get some deputies, check the exits, and hope we're not comepletely surrounded. And keep an eye out. Let's make sure we're all on the same side here." Malia feels so much fear and says, "We have to get out of here." Scott says, "Give him a chance. He knows what he's doing." Malia says, "I am giving him a chance. He can talk all he wants, but we have to get the hell out of here." Liv says, "How do we get Jiang and Tierney out?" Malia says, "Screw them. It's Stilinski's job." Scott says, "But it's our job to keep them alive." Theo walks in and says, "Not mine." Liam walks forward and says, "Do you want me to kill him?" Liv stops Liam and Malia says, "No, just leave him. Can we please, just go?" Quinn says, "We're not going anywhere. Don't you get it? We're trapped. They have all the windows and doors covered. We're going to die in here." Theo says, "Does someone want to kill her?" Malia screams in Theo's face and says, "Shut up!" Liv grabs Malia's arm and says, "Malia, hey. Take a breath you're shaking." Malia breathes heavily and says, "I'm fine." Lydia says, "Guys, there's only a dozen of them out there. We can take them." Liv can't believe Lydia just said that. It doesn't sound like something Lydia would say." Liv says, "Scott, they're the last of Satomi's pack. We can't leave them behind." Scott looks at everyone and then looks at Liv and says, "Okay. We go. But Jiang and Tierney are coming with us." Liv nods her head. They all then walk to the door and Scott looks at everyone and says, "You ready?" Everyone nods and then they hear Liv's dad say, "Nobody's going anywhere." Lydia says, "I can get through them." Liv's dad says, "We're not going to fire the first shot. Now, get back from the door. All of you. Parrish, get these two back in their cell." Scott walks to him and says, "What happened?" Liv's dad says, "She gave us till midnight." Then they push the desks against the doors to block the entry. Then the lights go out. Malia says, "How easy is it to cut the power in the sheriff's station?" A deputy says, "Too easy." She throws Nolan on the ground and Liam says, "Throw him out." Nolan stammers and says, "No, you can't. Okay? Please don't. She'll know I screwed up." Liam says, "He's with them." Scott says, "Liam." Liam says, "Sheriff? He's a liar and he's sick in the head." Liv's dad says, "And now he's under arrest. Lock him up." Later, Parrish sees a smoke bomb and says, "Everyone get down!" Scott grabs Liv and they both duck under a desk. As the bomb goes off, Scott wraps his arms around Liv to keep her safe. Malia says, "What the hell was that?" Liv coughs and says, "A distraction." Liv's dad says, "They said midnight!" Parrish says, "The grenade came from in here. It was one of us." Liam comes in with Nolan and holds a vile of purple liquid and says, "Wolfsbane. He was trying to kill them. Scott, there's something else you need to see." Later, an arrow is shot through the sheriff station. Liv takes it out the wall and takes the cloth off it to see the lacrosse number 7. Liv says, "This is Brett's number." Lydia says, "They're trying to rattle us." Theo says, "It's working." Theo nods to Liam's eyes glowing and then they hear a scream and then a gun shot. Scott has a plan to put the two now dead bodies in a body bag to make it seem like it's Jiang and Tierney. They find out the thing that scares them with fear is in here with them. Scott and Theo bring the bodies outside and Malia says, "Anyone think this is going to work? I'll stop asking." Then Scott's dad comes in and Liv says, "Scott, are you sure about this?" Liam says, "I'm not. This deal sucks." Agent McCall says, "But it's the only on the table. In a situation like this, the best solution is always to de-escalate. It's why you called me, isn't it?" Liv's dad says, "To be honest, I didn't think anyone was gonna show up." Scott looks at Liv and then at his dad and nods and says, "Okay. We'll go." Then they all leave the sheriff station and watch them take Jiang and Tierney and Tierney mouths, "Thank you." Liv and Scott nod. Later, Liv's at Scott's and interrupts his conversation with his dad. His dad says, "I'll be downstairs." Liv grabs Scott's hand and Scott smiles at Liv and rubs his thumb against her hand. Scott says, "You could've grabbed a bag." Liv grabs his bag and Scott smiles at Liv with a twinkle in his eyes of love. The next day, everyone's at the animal clinic and Mason shows up and angrily says, "You told me you were leaving." Corey says, "I lied." Liv says, "We all did." Mason says, "So this was the plan all along?" Scott says, "Sorry, Mason. My dad had to believe we left Beacon Hills. Everyone has to believe it." Mason says, "Then what happens next? We fight back now, right?" Scott says, "What did you think we were gonna do? Run?"
