Chapter 20: The Wolves of War

Liv's hiding next to a garbage bin, when she hears Scott yell, "Liv!" Then Liv looks to see a familiar blue Jeep and smiles. Stiles says, "Didn't think you're doing this without me, did you?" Derek comes and says, "Without us?" Then they start fighting back and then Monroe and her men leave. Stiles looks at Liv and says, "Can't believe you didn't tell me about any of this. Not a word. Not a single word." Liv says, "We had reasons. Really good reasons." Scott kneels in front of Deucalion and Deucalion stammers, "Gerard... what he fears most... he can't beat you. And he knows it." Then Deucalion dies and Malia says, "It's really started, hasn't it?" Stiles says, "What's started?" Scott pants and says, "It's an all-out war." Scott then gives Derek a hug and Peter says, "As much as I enjoy the impromptu family reunion, what are you doing here?" Derek says, "I found a pack slaughtered in Brazil. There were two words written in blood on a wall. 'Beacon Hills.'" Scott says, "You came back for Beacon Hills?" Derek looks at Scott and Liv says, "No. Came back for you." Then the radio in Stiles Jeep turns on and they hear Gerard say, "Blood and destruction. Dreadful objects so familiar. All pity choked with customs of fell deeds. Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge. With Ate by his side come hot from hell. Shall in these confines with monarch's voice. Do you know the rest, Scott? Do you know your Shakespeare?" Derek speaks through and says, "'Cry, 'Havoc! and let slip the dogs of war.'" Gerard says, "War, indeed. Welcome back, Derek. You must all be feeling rather nostalgic. Are you pleased with the little family reunion, I've gathered around you, Scott?" Scott says, "Yeah, well, why don't you come join us and I can thank you in person?" Gerard says, "I even have a few visitors for you, from London. Even someone like Jackson Whittemore couldn't resist coming back to Beacon Hills. Say hello, Jackson." They then hear Jackson screaming and hear him say, "Do it again, old man. Come a little closer. I'm gonna shove that thing so far up your ass... Lost none of his charm, has he? You can find him here with us at the Armory, Scott. In fact, I'm going to tell you where to find all of them. Your Deputy Hellhound met some friends of his while responding to a call at Eichen House. Your father was on his way back from San Franciso with the goal of entering the fight. But he didn't get far. You might want to tell your mother to skip her shift at hospital tonight. Liam and his friends are there now. Optimistic of them, but woefully ill-advised. This is how you wage war, Scott. A strategic positioning of your army against theirs. Which is why you will come to me. You will try to save as many as you can. And you might even save a few. But your limited resources will be spread thin. Ultimately you will fail. The dogs of war, Scott. They're coming for you..." Later, they go to the animal clinic and Stiles says, "It was, literally, day one at my internship, and up comes a slide about this guy that they've been chasing in the woods in North Carolina." Liv looks at Derek and says, "I thought you were in South America." Derek says, "I was. The bodies of the werewolves I told you about? They blamed me." Stiles says, "So I learned that the FBI has cornered this feral mass-murdering unsub..." Derek says, "I found a group of hunters gathering in a meeting place. I was trying to get information." Stiles says, "Well, the FBI found out about it too and they were planning a SWAT assault to take him down. Dead or alive. And, as well know, though, with Derek, it's preferably dead." Derek says, "Preferably." Stiles says, "So I convinced them to take me on the Field Op." Lydia says, "You convinced the FBI to bring an intern onto an extremely dangerous field operation?" Derek says, "I'm surprised he didn't convince them he could lead it." Stiles says, "I tried. Didn't work. Anyway, long story short, I basically, you know, had to save his life." Derek says, "That's not how it happened." Stiles says, "Yeah. I may have left out a detail, but that's the gist of what happened. It was the essential essence of it." Derek says, "You couldn't walk." Stiles says, "I was limping." Derek says, "You couldn't walk, and I know that because I was carrying you." Stiles says, "You shot my toe. You want to see it? My toe was caught in the crossfire. It was obliterated." Lydia says, "Okay, forget your toe." Stiles says, "Obliterated." Lydia says, "Hmm." Scott says, "Guys, it's not just the hunters. We've got another problem." Liv says, "It's called the Anuk-ite." Scott says, "It can get into your head. It can make you can see things." Derek says, "What does it look like?" Lydia says, "It used to look like two ordinary people, but somehow they merged. All we know is that it's made of two faces. One human. The other supernatural." Liv says, "And it's a shapeshifter, just like us. But it knows what you're afraid of. What you fear most." Malia says, "And now it can kill you just by looking at you." Stiles says, "Okay, so you're telling me we have to go up against this thing blind? And face our deepest fear?" Scott says, "Yeah. Why? What do you fear the most?" Stiles says, "Blindness." Derek says, "Becoming blind?" Stiles says, "Yeah, terrified of it. Always have been. This just seems to be a situation of unfortunate overlap." Scott says, "Lydia, you and Stiles need to find Argent, get to the Armory, rescue Jackson." Lydia says, "I don't think we think have time to wait for him. I've gotten through those doors once, anyway. I can do it again." Stiles says, "Can we slow it down just for one second, make sure I'm grasping this? So, we're actually talking about doing this? We're gonna do exactly what Gerard wants us to? Is that right?" Scott says, "I think that if we stop the Anuk-ite, we stop it all." Derek says, "Stopping this thing can stop Gerard and the hunters?" Scott says, "Not all of them are hunters." Liv says, "He's right. Most of them are ordinary people acting out of fear." Scott sighs and says, "Monroe's not gonna change. But I think that we can reach the others. Most of them, actually." Lydia says, "The Anuk-ite is causing them to come from a place of fear." Derek says, "Well, fear's pretty motivating. Especially when it leads to anger." Scott says, "And I think that if we can take out the fear, we can take out the fight in them too. They're afraid of us, but they don't have to be. They just have to change their minds." Derek says, "Well, we have to change their minds." Malia says, "Okay, we can face the Anuk-ite. We can try to fight it blind. We can try to face our fears. But we still need to know how to catch it." Scott says, "We will figure that out. We always do." Derek says, "Oh, it's nice to see that somebody hasn't lost their optimism." Scott says, "Not yet." Stiles says, "I have." Lydia says, "We will buy you time, Scott. Who knows? Maybe Jackson has an answer." Malia says, "Maybe Argent will come back with one." Scott says, "You three. You're with me. And we need Peter. Anyone who can help stop this thing or slow it down." Malia says, "Where we headed?" Scott says, "The high school." Derek says, "That's where we're gonna find this thing?" Scott says, "No. It'll find us." As everyone gets ready to leave, Liv pulls Scott aside and says, "Hey, um, I'm gonna go with Lydia and Stiles." Scott says, "Oh, I just thought you we're gonna come with me." Liv says, "I'm the one who called Jackson here to Beacon Hills in the first place." Scott looks confused and says, "You did? Why?" Liv says, "Because we needed help and Jackson was the only person that I knew would come and help us. This is my fault he's captured. I have to help him." Scott nods and softly says, "Okay. Be careful." Liv softly smiles and says, "I will, and you be careful too." Liv softly kisses Scott and Scott kisses back. Later, Liv and Lydia fight the hunters blocking the door. The door opens and Stiles says, "Jackson?" Jackson says, "Stiles?" Liv and Lydia both say, "Jackson?" Stiles says, "Already covered that." Liv then runs into Jackson's arms and says, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I got you captured." Jackson rubs Liv's back and says, "It's not your fault, okay. I'm okay." Stiles says, "Okay. That's nice. Okay, not too close. Okay, all right, let's just break that up." Stiles pushes Jackson away from Liv and Jackson looks behind her and says, "You did that?" Liv smiles and says, "Yeah, me and Lydia did." Stiles says, "I kicked down the door. Now that we've all contributed, wanna get the hell out of here? Huh?" Jackson says, "Uh, not without Ethan." Liv says, "Ethan? What's Ethan doing here?" Jackson says, "He's with me." Lydia says, "He's with you?" Jackson says, "Yes. Me." Stiles says, "Ethan?" Lydia says, "And you?" Stiles says, "Ethan?" Jackson nods and says, "Yeah." Liv says, "Oh, my God. I thought you'd never figure it out." Jackson scoffs and then softly laughs and stutters, "Can we go find him now?" Stiles says, "Yeah. Oh, yeah." Stile's phone vibrates in his pocket, and he answers, "Yeah?" Scott says, "You still at the Armoy?" Stiles says, "We are. Leaving momentarily, though." Scott says, "There's something I need you to get first." Then they go and find Ethan and he says, "How did you get out before me?" Jackson says, "Well, I talked my way out of it." Ethan says, "You used the tail, didn't you?" Liv says, "You still have a tail?" Ethan says, "So gross." Jackson says, "Can you just get up?" Ethan says, "Let's go." He grabs Jackson hand, and they leave. Then they go to the school and Lydia says, "Remember, you can't look at it. You have to fight it blind." Ethan says, "How about we don't fight it? Just get our friends and get the hell out of here?" Jackson says, "Well, works for me." Then they get hit with so much fear and Liv says, "It's here. Shut your eyes." Jackson says, "Liv..." Liv says, "Shut your eyes." Later, Liv runs into the library to find everyone around Scott, and she says, "Scott? He's not healing? Scott, what happened to your eyes?" Scott says, "I had to. I'm sorry." Derek says, "Scott, you have to heal. If your eyes stay like this much longer, the damage is gonna be permanent." Stiles says, "Come on, Scott. Concentrate." Scott says, "I'm trying. It's not working. I can't focus." Liv grabs Scott's face and says, "Hey, hey, look at me. Yes, you can. Just concentrate." Scott says, "I can't, I can't, I can't do it." Liv says, "Yes, you can. Scott, please just look at me." Liv has tears rolling down her cheeks and Lydia says, "Liv. Kiss him." Liv kisses Scott with so much love and pulls away and sees his eyes all fix. Scott leans back in for another kiss and he kiss her with as much love as Liv has. The next day, Liv, Liam, and Nolan are in the locker room with Coach and looks at Liam and Nolan and says, "Co-Captains. You wanna be Co-Captains now? And you, you don't wanna be Co-Captain anymore with Liam?" Liv says, "Yeah, I figured I gave someone else a shot. I mean, I've been Co-Captain for 4 years now, it's time for a change." Coach nods and Nolan says, "We've, uh, gotten past our differences." Coach says, "That doesn't sound very competitive. Who taught you that crap?" Liam says, "You did. Because you're a great Coach."

Later, Liv arrives in her car with Liam and meets everyone with Scott who's with a new guy. They get out of the car and Liv smiles at Scott, and he smiles back. Alec says, "So, are they all... Uh, different?" Scott nods and says, "Some of them are. Some can do things you'd never believe. And others might only be human, but they make up for it by being really smart or really good in a fight." Alec says, "Who are they?" Scott says, "My friends. My pack. And you can be with us if you want. But you're gonna have to fight." Alec says, "Against Monroe?" Scott says, "And everyone that follows her." Alec says, "She said she'd find me. That she'd hunt me down and kill me. She didn't care how old I was. She said I was a monster." Scott says, "You're not a monster. You're a werewolf. Like me." Scott then glows his red eyes at Alec. Scott walks towards his friends and holds Liv's hand and has his arm around Stiles and they're all walking away with smiles on their faces.
