Chapter Sixteen:

Ellie's POV.

July 21, 2012.

I grabbed a pack off balloons and walked over to where the helium canister was outside. Today is Lauren's bridal shower. Then later tonight we are heading off to Vegas. We'll spend the weekend there and head back Sunday night. As maid of honor, of course I planned this all. She's going to freak when she sees all the crazy surprises I threw in for her.

Opening up the package of balloons I take one and put it on the little pipe looking thing that blows helium into it. Then tie a long string on at the end. Doing it with all of them and putting them under a rock to make sure they don't fly away.

All the rest of the bridesmaids are setting up the food platters and getting the games ready. It took about two months of planning but I made it work.

Lauren isn't coming here until after all of the guests arrive. I planned it at her parents house so that way her mom could just tell her that she wanted to have a girls day, she would show up, and then SURPRISE!

"Hey El, people are starting to get here," Mariah informs me peeking her head out the sliding glass door.

"Ok thanks, just have them set the gifts on the table in the corner and free them the small snacks. Not the fancy ones yet," I tell her grabbing all of the blown up balloons and following her inside as she nods her head.

I take the balloons and put them in the dining room, all over the ceiling. Looks festive enough to me. They're all white, representing the bride-to-be.

"Hey Kai," I wave Kai, one of the other bridesmaids over and she scurries as quick as she can in her heels, "can you do me a favor?"

"Sure what's up?"

"Go in the garage, and they have a fridge. I stuck all the alcohol in there. There a giant cooler in the garage next to the fridge. It should be blue. Can you put all the alcohol except the wine in there and take it out back? I'll get the ice," I tell her an she nods and heads I the garage while I greet Lauren's guests on my way to get the ice in the freezer if the indoor fridge. Grabbing the bag with both hands I throw it on my shoulder and carry it outside where I slap it down on the cement. Causing it to actually break into smaller pieces which will make it easier to poor into the cooler.

"Here you go," Kai says out of breath as she hauls the giant cooler out and scoots it up against the house.

"Thanks," I say as I tear open the bag and pour the ice in letting the drinks chill.

"Ok guys," I say walking in now that all the guests have arrived, "she will be here in a couple minutes. Find a spot and turn the lights off."

Someone runs over to the lifts and flips the switch as everyone ducks under tables, behind chairs, and around counters.

Lauren unlocks the door to the house and everyone has to put their hands over their mouths from snickering.

"Mom?!" She calls out before turning on the light and as soon as the lights on everyone pops up from their hiding spots.

"SURPRISE!!!" We all scream making her jump back and almost fall. She is clutching her chest where we heart would be and she starts bursting out laughing.

I walk out from where my hiding spot was as do all the rest of the bridesmaids and her mom.

"Was this your idea?" She asks her mom.

"Nope. It was Ellie's," she says nudging me and smiling.

"Oh my god. I had a heart attack!"

"Aw poo. Guess we can't play all the fun game I planned out," I say hanging my head in fake disappointment.
