𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 《︎ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘭 》︎
The warm weather outside brought many people outside to the yearly spring cookout that was being held. The smell of barbecue filled people's noses along with the music playing through the big speakers making people dance to the beat.
Children running around playing tag, jump roping, and people surrounded by laughter. Family and friends enjoying it, although sooner or later everyone knew a fight was bound to happen.
Haven sat in between her best friend Asia and her cousin Harmony. Her eyes circulated the large gathering observing before looking down at her phone to start scrolling through Instagram.
"Where is my boyfriend? He needs to hurry up." Asia spoke popping open her soda can causing Harmony to laugh. "You so in love." she looked over at her, shaking her head.
"Right? I just love my man." Asia sighed, her eyes still searching for him.
Not noticing him, Asia felt an arm be thrown across her shoulder. She looked up seeing Nino causing a wide grin to come across her face. "Hey." She blushed as he leaned down to kiss her before pulling back and pecking her lips twice. A slight smile came on Haven's face as she watched the interaction between the two.
Haven and Asia became closer because of Nasir, Haven's half-brother. Nasir and Haven happened to share the same father but although they did their father didn't act in either of their lives. With no active father, their mothers made it a promise to make sure the bond between the two continued to grow.
"Nino pass me a drink," Haven called out his nickname as he almost made his way past a cooler fresh with drinks.
"Here." He handed her a sprite before kissing Asia once more and making his way away from the group and towards his group of friends.
Haven's eyes darted across the yard as he took a seat near a dice game being played. She shifted in her seat when she caught a familiar but unfamiliar face.
He was dressed in a dark blue Dickies fit with a matching fitted along with a fresh pair of Forces on his feet. His gun peeked from his side as he leaned down to collect his money. She also didn't miss the tattoos aligning his face and his neck.
Just her type.
"Not you staring that man down?" Asia spoke as she slightly laughed watching Haven's face.
A confused look came over Haven's face as she straightened her posture in her seat turning to look at Asia. "Huh?" She put on a confused face thinking it was working but in reality, it wasn't.
"Don't 'huh?' me I see you watching Cairo."
"Cairo Carter? You're lying that's not him." Haven furrowed her brows, not believing the face she saw not too far from her.
"Yeah, it is."
"Damn, he looks different." She pointed out causing the girls to agree. As their conversation changed they continued to share laughs amongst each other.
As Cairo turned his head his eyes settled on Haven causing a slight mug to come across his face because it was a new face he didn't recognize.
He watched as she smiled amongst his friends causing him to get a great look at her face. He also didn't miss the fact that they made slight eye contact with each other.
They both paid no attention and continued to carry on with their friend groups.
