The hum of Haven's car ended as she put her car in park and took the key out of the ignition. She was slightly annoyed as she had been driving around the plaza for minutes before finding a parking space, one of the reasons why she rarely shopped in this particular district.
She pulled open the doors to Pet Smart, a cold breeze hitting her. She decided to grab a cart before making her over to the groomer's salon. Ivy, Duke's particular groomer greeted Haven. "I'll go get him for you."
Haven nodded. "He wasn't snappy today, was he?"
"Nah girl, you know I'm one of his favorites." Ivy shook her head. "I never have a problem out of him."
Haven expected nothing less but as of lately, Duke had grown somewhat of an attitude. His behavior had changed a little, as Haven caught him doing things that he knew wouldn't normally fly.
He had been testing her patience over the past couple of days and Haven had blamed it on him simply missing Cairo.
She would catch him lingering outside of his office door as he would spend most of the day lying by it. Haven tried to distract him, taking him on more walks than usual and making more time to play with him during the day as those were the normal things Cairo did with him.
The sounds of feet pattering caused Haven to look as Ivy rounded the corner with Duke next to her. Haven smiled as his look was more tamed and his coat more shined.
"Hey, bubby." She crouched down, beckoning Duke near. "You smell good and look good." She smoothed down his fur, the fresh scent of him coming to her nose.
"Here's his chain," Ivy said, bending down to snap it around his neck.
The large gold-linked collar was the perfect addition to Duke's look. The chain being his number one compliment along with how shiny his coat was, props to his raw food diet.
