ATHENA

"Scoot over." Reid states as he pulls the blanket over his and my body. "It's fucking freezing."

"I didn't actually think you would sleep in here with me tonight." I reply as I slowly get closer to him.

"I wouldn't leave you alone if you were shaking and scared." Reid responds, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me closer to him.

I can hear his heartbeat. It's surprisingly calming for someone like Reid. I thought his heart beat would be much faster.

"Do you want to talk about why your shaking?" He asks gently.

I listen to his heartbeat as I decide if I should tell him the real reason or a lie.

"It's just really cold." I shrug against his chest.

"Your not scared of the temperature though." He adds which makes me sigh.

"I don't really like loud noises." I admit. "Like thunder."

"Any reason?"

"I don't really know. I was scared since I was a kid. It only got worse over time."

"What do you usually do when it occurs?"

"I used to hug my sister or my mom, or talk to Trinity."

He starts to run his hands through my hair which soothes me.

"Do you feel at least better now?" He asks, his chin resting on top of my head.

"I do." I snuggle in closer to him, my hands placed on his chest.

I want to lick his chest. Or kiss it. Maybe both at the same time.

We lay together in silence, the only noises are our light breathing.

"I used to have a dance routine to 'Fantasy'." I blurt out.

"What?" Reid asks.

"I made a dance routine to 'Fantasy' by Mariah Carey because it calmed me down." I explain.

His chest shakes and I look up at him to see him chuckling.

I immediately smile at the sight.

Chuckling is basically laughing. Reid is chuckling because of me.

"Do you still know the routine?" He asks and I nod. "Do you want to show me?"

I think about it for a moment.

If I can get him to smile, a genuine real smile, it would all be worth the embarrassment.

I pull away from him and get off the bed.

I play the song on my phone after connecting it to a speaker.

"I'm only doing this to see if I can get a smile
out of you." I tell him as the song begins to play.

He nods as he sits up.
