He was simply amazing.
She didn't know how, neither did she care that her aim for seeking out Duncan had taken the back seat. The gears she was running on with him was too sweet to care.
Their time together told her that if she could nail him she was set for life.
And no she wasn't just talking about cleaning out his account, because the thought wasn't as appealing as it used to be. But having something solid with him.
Now Darius was a different matter all together. She felt no obligation in protecting from Honey. That's if she ever got the job done.
But it seemed she was successful as she she'd walked in on Darius looking lost on the couch.
'What happened?', she asked feigning concern. It turned genuine when she saw the look on Duncan's face, she thought someone had gotten to him.
'This way', he took her to the kitchen were he filled her in. Darius's account had been wiped.
All he could remember was going out for his usual morning run and coffee. And that was it. He couldn't remember forty eight hours of his life.
Going back to the living room she almost felt pity for him when he broke down in tears. Feeling obliged she reached for his hands but he was having none of it.
He'd lost everything. He couldn't explain it.
On the other hand she'd never once stopped to think about the victims of their games. Even as she watched him have a melt down she could agree he looked pitiful but that was it.
Not.her.problem.
Duncan on the other hand was on his laptop trying to follow the money.
She knew that even if his eyes were glued to that screen for one full year he wouldn't get it. Their tech team was out of this world, literally.

Later that evening she'd joined Duncan on the terrace.
'This was a carefully thought out plan. And it's driving me crazy that I can't track it. That's his life! His whole life entirely gone. Just like that', he gripped his hair in frustration.
All she could do was rub his back gently.
Darius had gone home with his brother, he was too traumatized to not be with family. At least that's what Duncan said.
'Maybe there's another angle to go at it and you're missing it because you're running on fumes. A good night rest should help', this caring thing was annoying.
'I'll sleep better if I can figure this out',
'I can stay if it'll help', she suggested. Already thinking of how she'd take advantage of the situation.
'That's not necessary', he didn't look up as he spoke. He was running his hands through his hair.
'I don't mind, and you need to sleep. Or at least get some rest so you're at your best to help your friend', heaving a sigh he relaxed in the settee.
'Okay, you can use my room. I'll sleep in a guest room',
'Why don't I sleep in the guest room? It's your house-',
'You'll be more comfortable in mine. Come', he lead her to the said room.
She didn't get what she wanted which was both of them spending the night together, but she could settle for this.
'You sure you won't stay with me? I don't mind',
'Yea, it's fine. Will these work?', he gave her his tee shirt and a pair of shorts to sleep in.
'Yes, thank you',
'Call me if you need anything. Good night', he kissed her forehead before leaving the room.
She took a shower, changed and laid on his bed.
The final ascension for her was in two weeks, she knew she wasn't going though. She'd lost interest in things relating to the coven. Thankfully the Mistress had been ignoring her since the encounter.
Neither had she seen or had any encounter with the cobra.
She'd settled on what she'd do for the coven as no one ever just left the coven. You either were of benefit to them alive or your death was of benefit to them.
She also wasn't ready to give up her powers, she worked hard for them.
She stood up and walked out of the room to find Duncan.
Coming into the living room she found him seated in the barely lit place, staring at the fire place.
Not saying a word she sat next to him and placed her head on his shoulder. He adjusted and placed an arm around you.
Soon she slept off.
Duncan carried her back to his room, tucked her in before going to the guest room.

She turned as the sun warmed her face. Opening her eyes she realized where she was and most importantly she'd actually slept through the night.
That hadn't happened in a very long time. No astral projections, no nothing.
Sitting up a door opened revealing a fully dressed Duncan, his hair was still damp but he was towelling it.
'Oh you're awake, Good morning'
'Good morning. Did you sleep?',
'Yea, I got some sleep. How did you sleep?',
'Great, your bed just got listed on the things I'll steal from you', he laughed as he dropped the towel in the laundry basket.
'Come down for breakfast when you're done okay? I think Sandra left some clothes you can borrow in my closet. Or you could use mine',
'Okay, I can spy what I already want. Thank you',
'You're welcome',
Coming down to 'breakfast', she saw the guys having different cereals. Duncan was by the stove flipping pancakes.
Feeling generous, she joined him and took over the cooking. Setting plates of bacon and eggs next to the pancakes.
The guys were staring at her and the food.
'Eat up guys', she smiled at them.
'If you don't marry her I will!', King said all of a sudden making her flush hard. She was technically a stripper and she was flushed at a marriage comment?
'Ignore him, cook for him and he'd marry you. He's an easy man to please', Duncan rolled his eyes at the guys.
The said Duncan took his cup of coffee and left the kitchen. Without touching anything.
'Dont bother with that one, he eats breakfast once in a while. Eat up though', she smiled at Ben's explanation.
Feeling a bit peeved that he didn't eat anything she prepared, she'd have to settle for joining them.
