She'd done her morning routine except showering before she made her way downstairs to her living room. Duncan was still passed out.

Mindful of her steps, she walked around him to find the blanket almost off him and his phone sticking out of his pocket.

She took it, plugged it with her charger and placed the blanket right.

Going to the kitchen she made an English breakfast as that was what she was craving, and set his aside in little bowls that she placed in her microwave.

Going back upstairs she took her bath and dressed for work.

On her return she found Duncan at the same spot but still asleep.

She quickly scribbled a note on how to leave the house and where to place her keys. And of course where to find breakfast.

Deciding not to fight the temptation, she placed another kiss on his forehead before leaving for work.

During her lunch break she saw a message from Duncan saying he was heading home and he'd see her at lunch?!

She raised her head in time to hear her secretary say she's free.

Too many cupids in her life.

'Hello', he greeted as he came in.

'Hey, sleep well?',

'Much more than I deserve for pulling a long run like that. Thank you for yesterday',

'Always welcome. Hope you had your breakfast?'

'Yea, thanks. Wanna grab lunch?',

'I'm ordering in-',

'Come on, please?',

'What if I was scheduled for a lunch meeting?',

'Linda would have told me and I'd have respected that. Can we please just go?',

Rolling her eyes she said fine and stood up from her seat.

She really didn't want to go anywhere, but heck she was going.

Their lunch was simple and the conversation was light.

'Thank you',

'You're welcome. Would it be too much to ask if I could come over for dinner? My treat',

She stood in front of the elevator and thought about his request.

The cards were in her hands and she wasn't quite sure she wanted to play it like that.

But

'What do you have in mind?', she asked as she stepped into the elevator.

'Ummm, not sure but there'll be pasta and my mum's secret sauce',

'Can't wait', the elevator doors closed at that. She relaxed against the wall and kept asking herself, what am I doing?

****

She let him do whatever he wanted in her kitchen, and took the time to prep her laundry.

When she was done sorting them she went to her kitchen for the first set and noticed Duncan was already setting the table.

'So soon?',

'Well I didn't make the pasta from scratch which saved a lot of time. And the sauce is almost ready',

'Cool, let me get this done and I'll join you in a minute', after loading her machine she set the basket the machine and went to join Duncan at the table.

'This looks good, and I think I have a bottle of wine just for this', she left before he could say anything to get the wine.

She set it in a bucket of ice, and went back to sorting the laundry in her room.

'Dinner's ready!', she heard Duncan call to her after a while.

'Coming!', she gave herself a quick once over in her full mirror and deemed herself appropriately dressed in lounge bottom and a tank top.

'Okay let's get down to it-', the light went off.

'What? What's going on?', looking out the window she saw it wasn't only her house that had the power outage.

'Do you have a backup generator?',

'No, let me see if I still have candles',

She came back with some scented candles.

'Sorry about the smell, they're not usually used in the kitchen',

'It's fine, lavender?',

'You wish, jasmine',

'Same thing',

'No they're not, different flowers different fragrances',

'They're both flowers and smell flowery that's all I need to know. Tell me what you think about the dish though, that's what I need to know',

'I've eaten your meals before what makes this different?', but she obliged him.

'Oh wow! This is definitely different! What's the recipe? This is great, honestly',

'I know, my mum loves it',

'Well me too, what's the recipe?',

'Not telling but let's enjoy the meal before it gets cold', she rolled her eyes and dug into the meal.

Soon the wine was opened and they started drinking it.

'Can we move this to the living room?', Symphony asked already carrying the wine bottle with her.

Duncan picked two candles and followed suit.

Soon they were both seated on the floor close to each other, playing scrabble.

'That's not a word',

'Yes it's a word',

'No it's not, uth is not an English word!', she was trying not to laugh.

'But it fits right into that spot!', he argued back making Symphony lose it and start laughing.

'I'm an editor and the authority in English in this room, I totally say it's not a word and I've beat you enough to last you a week',

'Oh yeah?',

'Heck yes!',

'Let's give checkers a try and I'll see you in your authority mode'

'Bring it on!',

She beat him, badly.

'It's the wine',

'Of course, well good night. Don't even think about going home tonight, if the wine could make you lose Soo many games I don't trust you behind the wheels',.

'Ouch',

'Serves you right', she pulled herself up and staggered a bit as her legs tried to regain function after sitting for two long on the ground

'You good?',

'Yes, legs went to sleep', she stretched out before returning with a blanket for him.

Duncan in turn had packed up the game pieces.

'Thanks, she took three from him and returned them to the appropriate places.

'Good night', she turned to go

'Symphony wait, can I?',

She waited for whatever he was asking, he leaned in and placed a kiss on her forehead.

'Good night darling', he whispered but she heard him alright.

'Goodnight', she said back and willed her heart not to jump out of her chest cavity.
