'Dad I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've missed something and I don't even know what it is',
He was beyond frustrated with the whole issue with Symphony.
All the events he invited her to she'd declined. All, he'd even tried to use church events as excuse but she'd said she'd go alone.
His father's laughter wasn't helping.
Wonder where I learnt that from?
'Okay okay, try to walk me through this again. And also include how this is my problem at the moment-',
'Common dad!',
More laughter.
Now he knows how everyone felt whenever they brought matters to him regarding relationships.
'Okay okay, I'm done. I think, but here's the thing. The day we men totally understand the fairer sex is the day we make a renowned world discovery. With that being said and kept at the back of your mind, I'm thinking that she's either genuinely over you or she's working hard at being that way.
Now, what you've got to do is get her back on track in being interested in you. Somehow you've lost your appeal to her, or she thinks she's better off without you. Either ways, she's either totally done with you or is very much on her way there.
Talk to her son',
'See that's the thing. If it's not church or work she doesn't want to talk to me',
'Invite her for coffee son. Do I have to spell everything out for you?',
'I did and she said no', he was so thankful that his dad wasn't in from of him to watch him sulking.
'Quit sulking and change tactics then. If you remain stubborn or let her stubbornness persist you both will either miss out on a great life together or have some wasted years like my big head caused me and your Mama',
'But it worked out fine didn't it?',
'It did, but those years apart don't necessarily have to happen. Figure out her love language and speak it son, there's no way she won't listen and respond to that.
Gotta go, this sappy therapy is best with your mama and not me',
'Thanks dad',
'Anytime son'.
He put his phone and began asking himself what exactly was Symphony's love language.
Time for some research.

A random cup of coffee, a pack of cookies, some mint gums, occasionally goofing around. Just what exactly was Duncan up to?
Currently seating at her backyard, she was trailing her fingers on the stuffed koala he got her from his trip to Australia.
The one she'd declined to go with him.
The kangaroo was delivered this morning and she was happy.
Two nights ago she'd gone to the office on platforms, then she was enlisted for site scouting. In the desert.
Very unpleasant experience awaited her shoes, but flats had arrived at the car before she got in. With a little note wishing her luck.
He'd taken his game up a notch, whatever his game was by sending her stuff he learned during his bible study times.
Today she'd woken up to a text to meet up that evening. She was almost certain she wasn't going to show up, but she didn't respond.
As she hasn't responded to the last hundred invitations.
Maybe she'd go today.
Just for closure.
Yes, she'd go with that. She was meeting him for the sake of closure.
Her name being yelled brought her attention back to her house.
'Miss Symphony!',
'Yell any louder and the rats in the sewers outside town would hear you', she yelled back to Maggie.
'Well I've been calling you for a while now, cake's ready!',
'Be right there',she went to see what Maggie had been up to.
Today being her day off she was entertaining her.
'That looks good',
'I hope it tastes good as well, first time making a lemon cake',
'We'll just have to find out now wouldn't we?', she picked up a piece and took a bite from it.
'I don't know if this sugar is appropriate but I love how it's not overly sweet'
'You just want to make me feel better about the taste',
'True, but I actually love it. You could give out samples and know where to touch up on',
'Thanks. Well I gotta run, dad should be home from his appointment. Bye!', she gave Symphony a brief hug before leaving in a hurry.
With her excuse ready, she failed Duncan's number but he didn't respond.
Tried twice again before deciding to let it go. If he showed up unannounced then he'd have himself to blame.
She'd settled in for a quite evening when there was a knock at her door.
Why the person wasn't using the bell was a mystery but she went and opened the door to find Duncan with go cups.
'Hi', he greeted. He looked exhausted and all her mantra of staying strong and standing her ground flew out the window.
'Hey, you okay? Come in', he muttered a thank you before walking in. He dropped the cups on the table and crashed into a settee.
'You okay?', she asked again as she got him a glass of water.
'Exhausted is the word, have slept for more than an hour in forty eight hours',
'Why?', she asked surprisingly.
'Well, the show must go on', was all he said.
'And I asked a certain somebody to join.e for coffee today. I'm sorry I missed your calls. Couldn't get to them on time. And the thought of me being the one to cancel on you just didn't feel right',
'You should have though, you look like you could drop any minute', she was caught between banging his head or giving him a hug
'One cup of coffee and I think I'll have at least one hour in me-',
'No more coffee, you mister are going to be right now',
'Okay then, driving should be interesting. Or could you call a cab-',
'Shut up and lay down properly',
He did just that.
She returned with a throw blanket. The last memory he had of that evening was the blanket being placed on him.
He was out before she was done arranging the blanket on him.
Why did he think being this vulnerable would get him anything from her? Because it worked.
Watching him sleep brought back memories she promised herself to never entertain.
Oh what the heck!
She bent forward and placed a kiss on his forehead, and on his lips before turning down the lights. She closed the shutters so he wouldn't wake before he needed to because of the sun rays.
