Present - Elena

Levi led me down the corridors to what seemed to be a hallway of rooms, stopping in front of a pair of two not far apart from each other. I remembered them from when I had one of the cadets show it to me when running from him earlier today.

"The one on the right is my office, as I'm sure you already know," he shot me a sharp look before continuing, "the one on the left is yours. Erwin had the brilliant idea of putting us right next to each other," he said, adding a bit of sarcasm to the last statement.

"I wonder why," I mumbled to myself, not exactly looking for an answer. I opened the door to my new office and stepped in, being followed by Levi. I heard the door click shut as I looked around, examining the room. It was pretty similar to the office I had at the old HQ. I noticed that all of my stuff was placed neatly in a similar fashion to where I had them before, and turned to Levi. "Did you unpack my stuff?" I asked him, watching his eyes scan the room.

"Obviously. I didn't want you arriving to a mess in your office," he said flatly, meeting my eyes.

I smiled warmly at him to show my appreciation, and backed up to lean on my desk, not breaking eye contact with him. "So, are we going to continue that conversation we were having earlier?" I asked him, placing my hands on the edge of the desk, and biting my lip lightly.

Levi took in a breath, looking me up and down before slowly walking up to me. He placed his hands next to mine on either side of me and stared down into my eyes. "I'm thinking about it," he said lowly, his aroma washing over me immediately.

I stared up at him, watching, waiting for his next move. His gaze faltered quickly, not taking as long as it did last time before his eyes shifted down to my lips. I smirked at him, running the tip of my tongue across my bottom lip. He looked back up again, pushing closer to me, and placing one of his legs between mine. I let my gaze wander down to his lips for a moment, before reestablishing eye contact. The tension between us grew rapidly, our bodies were inches away, our legs brushing up against each other's. I could tell that Levi was fighting with himself to keep his composure, his breathing deepening as we stared at each other. He leaned in closer, stopping just barely in front of my face. I could feel his breath on my skin, sending chills down my spine. My breathing hitched as I looked into his eyes and saw the smallest hint of desire in them.

A knock on my door tore through the tension, causing Levi to release a small sigh in frustration as he pulled away from me and sunk down into one of the chairs next to us. I sighed quietly, also frustrated, wondering who it could be.

"Yeah?" I called, forcing my voice to stay even, not revealing my irregular breathing that I was trying to get under control.

The door opened and Erwin stepped through, "Ah perfect, Levi showed you where your office was."

I smiled at him, "Yes, he did, isn't he sweet?" I joked, stealing a glance down at Levi who looked disinterested, but gave me an annoyed look in response to my comment.

Erwin chuckled and handed me a stack of papers that he had in his hands. "This is the paperwork that I need from your mission. If you could get it to me by the end of the week, that would be great."

My eyes widened at the abnormally huge stack he handed me. "Are you serious? Come on Erwin, I just got back! Why is there so much?" I whined, thumbing through the countless pages.

"There's more because it was a four week long mission, got cut short, had issues contacting you, and one of your members got hurt," Erwin stated matter-of-factly. "Oh, and when you're done with that, I have another stack in my office for you to catch up on from your time gone."
