Flashback - Narrator

Levi growled in anger and frustration as the door of Commander Erwin's office slammed shut. He was about to stalk towards the door after Elena, but stopped when the Commander spoke.

"Let her go Levi," The Commander was frustrated as well, and irritated at the unprofessional actions of the Captain as of late. "Sit down."

Levi noticed the harsh tone the Commander spoke to him with and reluctantly sat in his chair. Meeting eyes, Erwin gave him a disapproving look and sighed.

"What is going on with you Levi? What is it about her that has you so caught up?" He asked, leaning forward on his desk.

Levi thought for a moment, conflicted on what to tell the Commander. "I don't know what you're talking about," he finally settled on, although he knew it wouldn't slide.

The Commander raised an eyebrow at him, "She is right, you know. Pretty much every argument I have seen between you two was started by you. I always see you watching her, it's almost like you are scrutinizing every one of her moves, waiting for something to yell at her for."

Levi clicked his tongue, rolling his eyes at the accusation. There was no way he was going to admit that he couldn't stop himself from staring at her, sometimes without even realizing it. He hadn't even admitted it to himself, let alone another person. Elena was a strong, attractive young woman that every single person was drawn to, and Levi was no different. Even the Commander felt it too. Everyone liked her, whether it was in a romantic way or not. Captain Levi would never admit that he felt the same pull towards her as everyone else, and it was almost as if he was constantly on edge and losing his temper with her because he was so desperate to convince others of the contrary.

The Commander sighed, knowing he wasn't going to be able to get Levi to talk. "Cadet Hartmann is a very capable, skilled, and intelligent soldier. She is already levels above most of our scouts, and she still continues to excel. You will end up working closely with her whether you like it or not, so I suggest you figure out what your problem is and get over it."

"I don't have a problem. She's the one with the problem," Levi protested, clenching his jaw.

"Either way, she seems to be doing a better job at keeping her cool than you have recently. Fix it, before you force my hand," Commander Erwin threatened, trying to keep his voice calm.

The Captain stood, saluting him, "Whatever."

Erwin clenched his jaw in annoyance, "You're dismissed."

Levi turned and walked out, making sure not to slam the door so that he didn't dig himself further into the ground. He was frustrated, angry, confused, and irritated, amongst others. He stormed back out to the quad, which was now empty. Training had finished while they were in the Commander's office. A frustrated sigh escaped his mouth, and was about to turn around to go back inside when what sounded like an angry grunt echoed through the silent air.

The sound sparked his interest, and he decided to investigate its source. He cautiously moved in the direction it came from, hearing more noises and grunts ringing out. Approaching the edge of the building, he flattened himself against the wall and peered around. His silver eyes narrowed at the sight, starting to feel his anger rise again.

Elena was unleashing hell on a training dummy. She had removed her uniform jacket, the sleeves of her black shirt were rolled up to her elbows, she had brought her red hair back into a bun at the base of her neck, and her hands were wrapped to protect them. He watched as she flew through a combination of punches and kicks, almost knocking over the dummy.
