Present - Elena
I shut off the water to my shower and gathered my hair to one side, squeezing the excess water out of it. I slid the curtain open and stepped out, grabbing my towel, and wrapping it around me. I sighed heavily; things had gotten so complicated since this last group of recruits joined. While watching the kids train, I paid close attention to the cadets that had been in the top ten in their class. Eren, Jean, and Mikasa seemed fairly promising, but Armin, not so much. I heard that he has a brilliant mind though, which reminded me of Erwin. However, his mind isn't Erwin's only strength, like Armin's seems to be. Reiner seemed skilled as well, but there was something off about him that I couldn't put my finger on. He didn't seem like the type that I would have join my squad.
A knock at my door brought me out of my thoughts, "Who is it?" I called through the doors.
"Levi," I heard, the voice matching the name.
I rolled my eyes, "Just Levi? Or Levi and company?"
"Just Levi, brat."
I chuckled to myself, "You can come in, just Levi."
I heard a grunt of annoyance sound from outside before the door creaked open. I laughed quietly to myself and grabbed my second towel to start drying my hair.
"You have a habit of showing up right when I get out of the shower Levi," I called from the other side of the door.
"I guess I can just sense the cleanness," he responded in a monotone voice.
I opened the bathroom door, crossing my bedroom and leaned against the doorframe, looking him up and down. He was untying his ascot, but stopped to look up at me. His hand movements slowed as I watched his eyes hungrily take in every inch of my skin that was showing. I smirked at him and turned to hang my hair towel on the drying rack. I had to go up on my toes in order to reach it, causing the towel wrapped around my body to start to slip. I caught it just before it was about to expose my chest, I could feel the coolness on my lower back where it had fallen more. With my back to Levi, I readjusted my towel, and then glanced over my shoulder at him. Not surprisingly he was still staring. I watched as he ran his tongue across his lips and pushed his hair back out of his face. Something in his eyes glimmered, but I was too far away to see what it was. It had been so long since we had seen each other, Levi had been on a week-long mission when my squad left for our long term one; making it well over a month.
Finally, Levi spoke, "I was talking with Erwin, and he said that he was going to be stopping by, you might want to get dressed before he gets here." His voice was low and coarse, something that I recognized.
I nodded to him and grabbed my clothes, closing the bedroom door most of the way but leaving it open partially. I finished drying off and started to put my clothes on. It was technically after hours so I only put on my white pants and my black button up shirt. Tucking in my shirt, I looked in the mirror, examining myself and messing with my hair. Even though it was still damp, I wanted to make it look a bit presentable.
I heard the door to my office open again, and footsteps followed. I sighed and walked out of the bedroom.
"Commander," I nodded to Erwin, who closed the door behind him. He was still wearing his uniform, but had taken off his jacket to reveal a ruffled shirt and his sleeves rolled up.
Levi was sitting in one of the chairs on the other side of my desk, and glanced over his shoulder to acknowledge my presence.
Erwin sat down in the other chair next to Levi, and I walked over to the desk and sat on it. "You're looking rough, Commander," I chuckled, "Care for a drink?"
