Chpater 17

****This chapter beginning of this chapter is kinda a flashback. it shows what Four was doing while everyone else met in the library last chapter.***** (ps if you get confused about what four is doing just keep reading. it'll make sense when you get to Tris' POV )

Fours's POV.

"Four, I don't think I knew you were capable of something this romantic." Uriah said, pretending to tear up.

"Our little boy is all grown up." Zeke added.

"Hate to break up the sentimental moment," Will interjects. "But if we don't get to the library, the girls will get suspicious."

I tell the guys I'd catch up with them later, and they head inside. I know I shouldn't be here when Tris gets to her car.

When I get to my truck, I'm surprised to see someone waiting for me. Delainey.

She notices me too and starts talking before I can.
"Oh! I was looking for you. I'm glad you hadn't gone home yet otherwise me staying would've been a waste."

She looks at me expectantly.

"Uh, why were you waiting for me?" I ask, confused.

"Right!" She exclaims "This is gonna sound weird but just listen to me, because I still care what happens to you. You were my first friend here after all."

"Okay.." I say motioning for her to continue.

She takes a deep breath. "Why are you still not back together with Tris?"

For a second I'm convinced I heard her wrong. "what?"

"Have even you talked to her? I mean you two seem a little more friendly now, but you're still awkward around each other-"

"What, are you watching us at school? And for your information, I have been fighting for her. Which-for some odd reason-is something you wanted. In fact I just set up a surprise for her." I say getting angry. Is she seriously scolding me?

"Good." she says cutting me off. "we were worried-"

"Who is we?" I demand.

"Oh, me and Scott. He told me a lot about you and tris' relationship and stuff that happened last year. Long story short: I basically ship you two now."

"You what?" What the hell is a ship? How does she know Scott?

"Look I told you it was going to sound weird. anyway I just wanted to make sure you're okay, and see if you need help. But you obviously don't since you set up a "surprise". So see you around!" She said brightly, and walked away.

That girl really is something. Awkwardly honest for one thing. Her and Christina could've been good friends. That is, if Christina wasn't so hell bent on being loyal to Tris. Delainey seems happy though, so that's good.

About five minutes after I get home, Zeke texts me.

She just left.- Z

Now comes the hard part. Waiting.

Tris POV

The sun is just starting to set when I leave the school. I search for my keys as I walk toward my car and eventually find them. I swear my purse is a bottomless pit.

I almost don't notice the flower bouquet and on my passenger seat.

Shocked, I pick them up and inhale the sweet scent. They're my favorite- white roses. When I move them I see a small blue jewelry box wrapped in a white ribbon.

Oh my god. He has to have done this.

I hesitantly open the box. Inside is a bracelet. At first, I think it's a plain gold band. But when I pick it up I realize there something inscribed around the inside of the band. When I read it my eyes tear up. Its song lyrics. I read the words over and over again:

"If I told you I loved you..."

I slip the bracelet on and smile. When it's on my wrist you can't see the inscription. Its like a whispered secret. For now, it only belongs to me.

I fall into bed the minute I get home, with a grin spreading across my face.

So I was kinda hyper when I wrote this, hence delaineys mood. in case anyone wasn't convinced she was a great person... That's right. she ships fourtris. I couldn't help but bring her in again, I just love her support and of course her candorness. ;)
