Stay: A Divergent High School Fan Fiction {SEQUEL}

Chapter 9

Never in my life have I felt so awkward. (And yea, that includes 8th grade health class).

Here I am in the backseat of Four's car, sitting between Marlene, Christina, and Shauna. And we're all sitting in silence as he holds hands with the girl in the passengers seat over the center counsel.

It's strange because I don't even know the girl's name. She's pretty though. Very petite with brown hair and hazel eyes. Maybe not the kind of girl you'd expect to stand out right away, but then again neither was I.

The silence continued until finally the girl announced she was going to find music to put on. She turned the radio up and ironically 'Play it again' blasted through the speakers. Four switched the station. I had to resist the urge to groan when 'Stay' was the next song that came on. Four changed it again. This time I actually smacked my head on the seat in defeat when the song was 'I almost do'.

Not sensing the awkwardness of the situation the girl turned around and looked directly at me. "You covered this song on tour right? Can you sing it?"

Christina glanced at me with wide eyes. I could practically hear her thinking- Is this girl serious? I sent her a look that said It was fine, but Chris didn't look so convinced.

"Yeah we did cover it. I would sing, but I'm kinda tired out. Long flight and all." I responded. She nodded in understanding.

"Well, you'll get to hear her sing Friday." Four's voice startled me, and I looked up to see him staring directly at me in the rear view mirror.

I felt my throat dry up, and my eyes widened slightly. Say something tris. Don't just stare at him. Speak! Literally anything is better than silence. Show him you're fine.

And brilliantly I responded "huh?" Great job Tris, you really proved yourself.

He turned his eyes back to the road and said "Here you are, Tris. Home sweet home. Who wants to be dropped off next?" I hardly even realized we were at my house.

"Actually I think we're gonna hang here for a while. Thanks for the ride." Marlene said as they climbed out behind me. The four of us watched them pull away, I could see them laughing about something.

"Okay," Chris announced. " I know we're all thinking it so I'll say it first. Who the hell was that?!"

I laughed dryly as we lugged our bags inside.

Two pizzas, three Disney movies, and a carton of ice cream later, we were all laying on our makeshift bed of pillows and blankets on my living room floor.

I looked around and said, "So does anyone know her name?"

Marlene took her head phones out, Shuana turned off her phone, and Christina put her magazine down.

" Her name is Delainey Bright, she's a junior just like us, plays soccer, and just moved here from Hawaii. Also she started dating Four the day after we sang I almost do."

I just stared at her. How the hell did Christina already manage to get this much information about her?

"Will." She tells me. "I texted him about halfway through 'Tangled' and had him tell me the basics"

Of course.

So they're dating. Four and Delainey. I wonder if he told her his real name on their first date too. I wonder how they met. And how they started dating.

I got up at went to my room, pulled out a small jewelry box and a key. unclamping the necklace I was wearing I locked placed it into the box and locked it. Then slid in into my bottom drawer. I walked out of my room and closed the door, pausing to glance back, before heading back downstairs.

So can you all guess which necklace Tris locked up? probably obvious...

I AM SO SORRY. it took me literally forever to get this update done. I hope you like this chapter, it's not the best but it's all I got today. Share you thoughts on this chapter yall know I love feedback :)

Swiftober is upon us and OUT OF THE WOODS BY TAYLOR SWIFT IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IN LIFE.

That was random. As usual. So back on track. We have a new character! Delainey is Four's new GF.  So even though you guys might not like her she is not going to be written as a "evil" or "antagonist" type character. (Mini spoiler I guess) tris is going to realize how innocent Delainey is in this pretty soon.

I'm gonna try and make the next chapter long with more action so stay tuned! Hopefully I'll be updating more often bc my cross country season is ending. School is still pretty crazy but this will free up a lot of my time. Thank you guys so much for caring enough to stick it out through weeks without updates. Yall are the bom.com.
