Aunt Xirenia led us all to an even more secluded area of the ballroom, somewhere out on a balcony where all seven of us could speak freely and without interruption or the prying eyes of banquet-goers. It was rather quiet as we all stepped out, the slowly dimming sounds of the party inside were the only indications that we were far enough away to have a real conversation befitting of family members.

I inhaled a large breath of air into my lungs as I took in the chilly and frosty air of the outside space we were located in. The darkened night atmosphere sparkled with an abundance of starlights that twinkled against the sky and as expected for Wysteria, the beautiful blue moon shone abundantly and brightly in the sky.

Its sheer size in comparison to the blanket of the sky was quite mesmerizing; I could almost feel the humming vibrations and energy radiating off the celestial orb towards my body, which ultimately began shivering due to the magnetic force and dropping temperature of where we stood.

I had forgotten my shawl back in the banquet hall and the conversation was far too important to pause so I could retrieve the item.

I rubbed my hands against my arms in an attempt to keep the warmth in.

Almost the instant I had done that, did I feel the crackling-warming sensation begin to spread against my body. It was as if the previous cold that had threatened to devour my entire being every flick and gush of the wind that passed through me was instantly blocked by an amber barrier that coated the outlining of my body, securing any heat from leaving it.

I wasn't cold anymore.

I hurriedly turned in search of the source of magic that had just covered me essentially with a blanket of heat. My eyes immediately came into contact with Jovian who was standing perched against the stone railing of the balcony, one of his hands was slowly dimming with the red essence of his fire magic pointed in my direction.

My head tilted to the side in curiosity. "Did you just place a heat layer on me?" I asked him curiously.

He crossed his hand against his chest as he looked away, his curly silver-red hair swaying slightly against the breezing wind, and huffed, "I just noticed you were shivering like an abandoned kitten in the rain... I pitied you." He replied as he refused to look me directly in the eye.

My lips curved into a bit of smirk, "How amusing to see my selfish cousin looking out for me." I teased him.

He scoffed, "I'd rather not have my ear pulled again like a rampant child. I am a gentleman after all." He replied sassily.

I chuckled at his response.

"Regardless... thank you." I thanked him kindly.

Jovian ignored me, opting instead to bring his attention to Aunt Xirenia who had cleared her throat in an attempt to bring the conversation to what we had all been waiting for.
