"That's lovely work," Rosa said, spooking me out of my concentration.

I looked up at her as I pulled my hands away from my blue embroidery on Bruno's cuff. The last thing I needed this close to the wedding was blood on the white suit. "You're here already?"

"I came to pick up Bruno's suit," Rosa shrugged. "Something about bad luck to see the bride before the wedding."

"24 hours," I smiled. "Last night was the first night I slept without him in some time. I just have one last hourglass on this sleeve and it'll be done." I finished up the stitches and Rosa carefully folded it into her delivery bag.

"Your dress looks amazing too," Rosa said, looking at the long dress on my manikin.

I smiled. "Thank you."

"Mariposa," Rosa said as she and Julieta helped me into my dress. "I think there's a problem..."

"We didn't have time for problems, Rosa," I said. "I have to be in the church in an hour and my hair isn't even done."

"Your sleeves are too long," Julieta said.

I looked at the arms of my tool jacket to find that they were in fact far too long. I wouldn't be able to use my crutches.

"Maybe you don't wear it?" Rosa suggested.

"That would remove the purpose of the flowers on my veil being blue," I said, panicking. "I have to wear it but I don't have time to rehem the sleeves..."

"What if we tied them up?" Julieta suggested.

"Perfect!" I smiled. "Rosa, the white silk from my basket and the white threaded needles from my cushion."

Rosa ran to grab them. "Just tell me what to do," she smiled.

I took the ribbon and tacked it to the tool on the arm and wrist of each sleeve. "Without poking me," I pulled on the jacket, "I need each of these sewn tightly around my arms and wrist. I may have to cut a stitch or two to get them off, but we don't have time to fight with the proper materials."

Rosa passed the needle to Julieta. "I can't do the little stitches like that."

Julieta sewed them in place and I smiled at myself in the mirror. "It's perfect..."

I took a deep breath and stepped into the church, Julieta and Rosa holding the doors open.

Bruno turned to look at me and his jaw fell. He smiled as he wrung his hands nervously.

I made my way down the aisle with a smile and wiped tear of joy away. Bruno had never looked so handsome as he did standing next to the priest in his white suit. Rosa and Julieta followed me down the aisle.

I stepped up on the step at the front of the church as thunder rolled outside. Some heads turned to Pepa, who was seated in the front row beside a rather unhappy Alma, and she shook her head to say this one wasn't her. The rainbow that reflected in her hair and earrings said this was likely true.

Rosa and Julieta took my crutches and I took Bruno's hands. The smile on his face was unlike any I'd seen before. He supported my weight as we turned to the priest.

~~~
"The couple has chosen to write their own vows," the priest said.
Bruno and I turned to each other, holding hands.
Bruno went first. "I choose you to be my partner for life, mi cielo. You have inspired me to be a better person every day. Your love has done for me what I did not know was possible. I promise to love you, be faithful to you, respect you, and stand by your side forever. I promise to never put anyone before you and support you for all our lives. I promise to do this for the rest of my life." He took the ring from his pocket. "Mariposa Louisa Dulce, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity." He slid the ring on my hand and kissed the ring.
"I promise to love and cherish you, mi amor, for the rest of our lives. I will be faithful and honest, loving and trustworthy. I will seek to bring you stability and order in a chaotic world. I will be your partner and friend for life. No matter what the sands of time throw our way, I promise not to leave your side even when we can not see the light." I took the ring from Rosa with a smile. "Bruno Pedro Madrigal, take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity." I slid the ring onto his hand and kissed the ring.
"Do you, Bruno Madrigal, take Mariposa Dulce to be your wife?"
"I do."
"Do you, Mariposa Dulce, take Bruno Madrigal to be your husband?"
"I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Bruno moved my veil from my face and kissed me gently as the church bells rang. With a smile, he lifted me off the ground and carried me down the aisle and out the door into a light drizzle that made me wonder if my new sister-in-law really was the cause of the lucky weather.
A/N
Ages: Mariposa - 23
Bruno - 21
Rosa - 19
You may question why blue when Bruno's color is green but is because of the wedding dress code superstition.
"Married in white, you have chosen all right... Married in blue, you'll always be true... Married in green ashamed to be seen..."
So they are in blue and white.
So they are in blue and white
