Part 9

*KATES POV*

I awake in petes room and see that his bed is empty so I go down and see everyone either eating or relaxing except Pete who was in his suit and ready to leave "what're you doing?" I say seeing a plate of food that Pete made that had a sticky note on it that read "don't touch, for Kate" I take the sandwich of the plate and take a bite "I'm uh going on patrol" he says stepping back from the exit "can I come, you'd get yourself killed anyway" I say laughing slightly "yeah, get your stuff and we'll patrol" he says as I go upstairs and get my jacket, bow, arrows and quiver. I come downstairs to, see him drinking with his mask above his nose "ready to go?" I say walking over to him "yeah, just hold on to me" he says as I wrap my arms around his waist and We start swinging towards the city.

*PETERS POV*

We land on a building and wait for something to show up. I send my spider-drone out to scan the area of any crimes while me and Kate wait. We wait for 15 minutes before the drone comes back and alerts us of a car theft in an alley. Kate uses these grapple hook arrows to traverse across rooftops while I swing there. As we reach the location I see that there are 4 men trying to steal a car "OK Kate, I need you to shoot a smoke arrow and take em down in the confusion" I say perching on the edge of a building and assessing the situation "sounds like a plan" she says fist bumping me before pulling out a smoke arrow and shooting it into the group of four. I jump down and kick the first guy in the face before webbing his hand to the wall so he doesn't escape, Kate drops down and shoots 2 arrows at another guys jacket which keeps him in place before punching him unconscious. The next guy comes charging at me with a knife but I dodge it and web it out his hands, Kate kicks the guys leg in before I shoot a Web to his head and pull him into the concrete. "that was fu- wait weren't there 4 guys?" Kate says looking around as I feel my spider sense blare in my ears like a bell, I see the fourth guy in the car and is about to drive into Kate "watch out!" I say before lunging at her and barely dodging being hit by the car myself. I take a second to take a breath and realise I'm on top of Kate "sorry babe, you OK?" I say getting off her and helping her up "I'm OK, now go get that asshole" she says as I swing after the car, I send my drone out again to track it. I swing as fast as physically possible after the car until landing on the roof of the car and throwing the goons out of the car and webbing them to walls. The car starts to spiral out of control and I start panicking because there was a crowd of people in front of where the car is going to crash, I use the weight of my body to weigh the car down on one end so it flips through the air "shit, shit, shit" I stick onto the roof of the car and flip with it through the air, I land on the ground with the full weight of the car on me. I see the surprised faces of the people who I saved in front of me "how're you?" I say before putting the car down and dropping to the ground since all my muscles were on fire. After a bit I see Kate run up to me with dirt and cuts all over her face "you OK?" she says as she sits next to me in the middle of the pavement "yeah, I think so" I say taking deep breaths to keep my mind off the pain in my muscles "you look terrible" I only now look down at my suit nd how damaged it is "don't worry I can patch it up tomorrow" I say getting up and helping Kate up, we go to Jack's place since we could recover and feel safe and I didn't want to swing back to the compound anyway. We got loads of weird looks since we were both in our suits but walking on the street. We reach Jack's place and knock on the door 3 times. He comes out and sees how beat up we are so he quickly pours away his drink and starts getting out some medical tools he had somewhere.

*KATES POV*

As soon as the door opens Pete limps to the sofa and collapses on it with his eyes closed, if he wasn't occasionally wincing in pain you would assume he was dead, I drop onto a chair and lean back trying to not move or the pain would return, Jack comes in the room with a painkiller for me and those weird plasters you put on side way's, I put the plaster over my cheek and take the pain killer, he puts a cloth in cold water and carefully removes petes mask before wiping the wounds on his face with the cloth "I wish we could've seen each other again under better circumstances" I say walking to get myself a glass of water and downing it before sitting back down. I could feel the effects of the pain killer start to kick in. Pete takes the cloth from Jack and ushers him away so he can do it himself, he picks his mask up from the floor and puts it on the coffee table before tending to his wounds. After he gets all the blood and dirt off the exposed parts of his chest jack passes the bandages and pete wraps his chest up. After he cleans his wound and the pain killer fully kicks in Pete sits next to me and slowly strokes the top of my hand "thanks Pete" we sit like that for a bit before both realising he's still in his tattered suit "do you have any spare clothes I could borrow?" Pete asks as he stands up "yeah in my room" Jack says as Pete makes his way up stairs. After pete gets some better clothes on Jack speaks up "since you 2 are injured do you want to stay here for the night then you can get back to the avengers compound in the morning" we both nod and Jack goes upstairs before returning and dropping some pillows and bed covers and a 2 person mattress on the ground in front of us "I don't mind you sleeping together just no funny business" he says laughing slightly but me and pete blush slightly. When night comes Jack goes up to his room while me and pete set up the makeshift bed jack put downstairs for us, we get in and lay next to each other just enjoying the others company. After a while we, start to fall asleep so I peck Pete on the lips before putting my head on the pillow, he returns the kiss and wraps his arms round me as we sleep together.
