12 // An Akward Dinner

"Uuuh I mean if someone could remind me what's going on then I might have a better understanding of whether or not it's something I want to do."

"We're buying a house, Toms, for all of the SBI plus Tubbo and Ranboo – Techno and Ranboo are flying in to the UK in three days, so we agreed that you and I would go there tomorrow morning and those in the UK would meet us the day after. I can't believe that you would forget this!" Silence descended on them for a solid minute and a half before Tommy spoke again.

"This shepherds pie is really very good, mum. You've really balanced out all of the flavours."

"Hmm, I don't know Toms. I'd say that the meaty goodness really needs to be there." Wilbur sent Tommy a long glare.

"Really? Cause if you asked Techno I'm sure that he'd say the potatoes are more important."

"Without the meat this won't fill you up – give you the protein that you need. A shepherds pie isn't really a shepherds pie at all without the meat. I really think, Toms, it's in your best interests to enjoy the meat." Both Tommy and Wilbur were speaking through their teeth sending glares at one another.

"Well I don't like the meat!"

"Maybe you don't have a choice-"

"Oh no, if you don't like the dinner Tommy I can always make you something else. You can just say – would you like some beans on toast instead?"

"Hmm? Oh no mum the dinner is lovely! The meat's delicious!"

Katie sent her husband a quizzical expression, to which he just shrugged and took another mouthful of the food.

"Well then, I'm glad that we agree the meat's good!" Wilbur had changed his glare to a smirk.

"NO! That's not what I meant and we both know it!"

"Really Tommy, it's no hassle for me to make you another dinner. If you don't like the food just say so because I don't want you going hungry."

"No mum the food's great," Tommy said while sending daggers into Wilbur.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes mum it's great."

Wilbur's smirk turned into a full on smile now, "I'm glad we agree Toms!"

"WILBY THAT'S NOT WHAT I FUCKING MEAN!"

Silence descended on them for the second time that evening – this time Tony (Tommy's dad) broke it.

"Aaawww Tommy that's adorable! Katie did you hear that!? He has a nickname for Wilbur!"

"I heard it honey," Katie quickly batted away her husband's statement as she looked at her son. "Are you sure you're ok Tommy?"

"MUM I'M FINE!!" Tommy leapt up from the table and ran to his room. The others looked at each other for a few moments before Wilbur offered to go up and talk to him.
