I looked out of the window as we reached Kaon. The city daddy will get a new job. I had cried when we left home. I didn't want to leave. 'What do you think, Mirage?' Mommy asked, looking at me. 'Where are the lakes?' I asked. 'We don't have lakes here,' she said. I ohh'ed disapointed. We reached a neighborhood and there was a large house. Mommy grasped my hand as she led me towards the front door. 'Here it is,' she said. I was scared and hugged her leg. 'Hey, it's okay,' she said and picked me up. I held my teddy bear close to my chassis while she followed daddy inside. 'You want to see your room?' she asked. I scanned the room anxiously and buried my face in her chest. Slowly, she walked upstairs and opened a door. 'Our room is right next to yours,' she explained. The room was similar to my old one.

Mommy gently placed me on the ground so I could inspect my room a little. 'What do you think?' she asked as she crouched down. 'It's nice,' I mumbled. 'Good, nothing to be afraid of, right?' she asked. I shook my head. 'I will get your toys,' she said and left. I looked around before walking over to the window. I had view over the city and road. So many traffic and people. I have never seen this much people before. What if they don't like me? Mommy returned and sat down in front of me, handing me some toys.

'You know what is really cool?' She asked while playing with me. 'No...' I mumbled. 'You are going to Primary programming,' she said. I looked up. 'School?' I asked. 'You are old enough and you will make a lot of friends there,' she said. I wasn't too sure about that. 'What if they don't like me?' I asked. 'How can they not like you, Mirage? You are so sweet and funny,' she said. 'Why do I need to go there? Can't you teach me things?' I asked. 'Oh Mirage... you are going to learn the basics of functioning in society. This is your first step to become like Jazz,' she stated. 'Really?' I asked. She nodded and kissed my helm. 'It's going to be fun. A lot of sparklings fromy our age,' she stated.

I could barely sleep that night. I kept hearing strange noises outside and what mommy said kept flowing through my processors. I hugged my teddybear tightly and closed my optics. Mommy helped out bed quite early in the moring and helped me to get ready. 'Ready for your first day at primary programming?' Daddy asked. I shrugged and hugged my teddybear. 'It's going to be alright. You are a big mech, isn't it?' he asked. I looked up and nodded. 'Big mechs go to primary programming,' he said. 'What if they don't like me? What if I can't make any friends?' I asked. 'No, don't worry about it. Your mother told you that you're going to be fine, right?' he asked. Dad kissed my help. 'Have fun and don't forget to smile,' he said and left after saying mommy goodbye.

After breakfast, mommy took my hand and brought me towards school. 'Always watch out for traffic when you cross the road,' she warned. I nodded and tightly held her servo. The building we walked up to was big and I saw a lot of kids from my age but also sparklings that were older. I stopped and anxiously looked around. 'You are going to be okay,' Mommy said. My sparkbeat increased as she walked into the building. Kids looked at me with curiosity.

The building had a lot of large rooms with sparklings in it. Mommy stopped walking. 'Hello, I am temper and this is my son, Mirage,' Mommy said. I looked up to the femme in front of me. She crouched down and smiled. 'Welcome Mirage, on your first day,' she said. I tightly hold onto my mother. 'Say hello,' mommy encouraged. I looked back at the femme. 'Hello,' I said shyly. 'My designation is Windblade and I'll be your teacher,' she said. 'Come, than I will introduce you to your classmates,' she said and stood in her full height again. I looked up to my mother. 'I will come with you,' she said and followed me inside.

There were more sparklings with their carrier. I wanted to be picked up and reached my arms out for my mother. She gently picked me up and held me on her hip. Being higher gave me a secured feeling. 'Do you know what we are going to teach you?' Windblade asked. 'Bassic things... like math, reading and how society works,' I said. 'You are a smart one, huh?' she asked. I buried my face in my mother's neck again to hide my shyness. 'He's really smart and sensitive...' Mommy began. 'Don't worry... he'll be perfectly fine,' Windblade said before walking over to another carrier. 'I am scared...' I whispered near her audio. Mommy took me towards the hallway and placed me on the ground. 'Don't be scared... everything is going to be perfectly fine,' she said and cupped my cheekplate. 'Shall I take your teddybear?' she asked.

I looked at it. 'Big mechs don't need them here and the change you will lose it is big,' she said. 'I am not sure if I am a big mech,' I said quietly. She kissed my helm. 'You are my special boy... don't worry my little Mirage. Everything will be right,' she said. 'How do you know?' I asked. 'Because I have been through it as well and I turned out perfectly fine, right? I wouldn't put you in a dangerous situation,' she said. It gave me some courage. 'You can make friends,' she encouraged me. Windblade appeared in the doorway and grasped my servo as my mom handed my servo to her. 'I will be here in the afternoon to pick you up, alright?' she asked. She kissed my helm and got up. I sensed she was emotional.

'See you later, Mirage,' she said and turned around. I felt my sparkbeat increase and felt tears welling up. 'Come on, Mirage. Let's meet your new friends,' Windblade said and took me inside. I was shaking while shying away in the corner of the classroom. Far away from everyone else. I didn't like it. Everyone had to sit down and pay attention to Windblade but I couldn't. I looked outside. I wanted mommy to come back already. Most mechs were bigger than I am. Windblade walked up to me. 'Would you like to introduce yourself?' she asked. I looked around the group and shook my helm. 'Come on.' She grasped my servo and took me with her towards the front.

'Tell them your name,' she encouraged and smiled. 'I am... Mi-mirage,' I said quietly. 'Very good... and what is your dream? What kind of job do you want to do later?' she asked. 'I want to be like Jazz,' I said shyly. 'Like Jazz? Why?' she asked. 'Because he's cool,' I replied. 'That sounds like a beautiful dream. Why don't you go sit next to Coil?' she asked. I didn't want to sit next to Coil. I wanted to sit in the corner and stay there. Windblade let me to the chair and gently pushed me down. Coil looked at me with his yellow optics.

'You have a weird name.'

I flinched and looked down at my lap. 'Mommy likes if,' I mumbled shyly. 'You are crying,' he said. I brushed some tears off my optics. 'I am not,' I defended myself. He snorted and started paying attention to the mech on the other side of him. I looked down at my lap, fiddling with my digits. We had an hour that we could play games with each other but I wasn't really interested in the other sparklings. I looked through the drawer and found something. The word 'Math' was written on it. I sat down at a table and opened up the book I found. So many numbers. They seemed to be dancing in my head but not in a confusing way. I actually understood what it meant. I got up and grabbed a pen and sheed of paper.

I really liked it. It's like solving a puzzle. I looked up when a shadow fell upon me. 'What are you doing, Mirage? Don't you want to play?' Windblade as she sat beside me. 'No,' I mumbled and wrote down the numbers. 'Let me see...' she grabbed the sheed and look at my answers. 'That's very good... not a single mistake,' she said. 'I know,' I replied and looked in the book again. 'Have you done something like this before?' she asked. 'No, I just see the links between the numbers... I know what it means,' I replied. Windblade got up and later returned with another book. 'You might like this as well,' she said and handed me the book.

Another math book. I looked through it. 'A different way of calculating,' she said. I ohh'ed. 'You can read, huh?' she asked. I nodded. 'Yeah, I can... and write,' I said, and focussed back on reading. The math distrected me a little bit from where I was and from missing my mommy so much. I didn't like playing outsid either. I sat down on a wall and looked around, watching the sparklings ran after each other. Coil stopped in his tracks and walked up to me. 'Why are you so weird?' he asked. 'Why am I weird?' I asked. He studied me for a moment. 'Because you are,' he said.

'Can I play with you too?' I asked. 'I am sorry, we are playing hide and seek... that's nothing for you,' he said. 'I am really good at hide and seek. Daddy and I always play hide and seek,' I said. 'Maybe next round, we just started,' he said and ran off again. 'Oh... a-alright,' I mumbled. I sat back down and waited. He never returned, probably forgot about me.

In the late afternoon, mommy came back. I had been waiting all day for this moment. I ran up to her and she picked me up. 'How's my brave mech doing?' she purred. 'I want to go home,' I said. 'Didn't you like it today?' she asked. 'No, I don't like it... I want to be with you, not with these kids,' I snapped. I hugged her and cried. 'Oh, Mirage...' she whispered and comforted me. 'You don't need me,' she said and made me look at her. 'I do need you...' I sobbed. She brushed some tears from my face. 'Come on, let's go home,' she said and walked outside.
