I looked at my father. I wish he would look at me. 'Daddy?' I asked as he passed me. 'Not now, Mirage.' I followed him. 'I changed the color of my frame. It's red. You'd like it?' He turned. 'Why did you pick that color?' He asked, grabbing something. 'Red is mommy's favorite color,' I said. He sighed, 'Mirage, stop talking about her,' he said. I looked down. 'It's Dino,' I said. 'No, you're name is Mirage,' he said and passed me, back to the femme Windcharge. A new femme he started to show interest in.
She's mean. He embraced her before leaving. I missed my mommy every single day. All I wanted was to hug her again. I cried most nights but I also wanted to make my mommy proud. Windcharge walked up to me. 'I hate red... it's horrible,' she said. 'I like it... my mommy likes it,' I said. 'Your mother is dead,' she said. I flinched and hugged my teddybear. 'Go upstairs and don't show me your ugly frame again,' she snapped. 'I have important stuff to do anyway,' I snapped. She hit my helm. Hard enough to leave a dent.
I started crying. 'Stop crying for Primus sake!' She shouted no ran upstairs and slammed the door shut behind me. From my subspace, I grabbed a photo of my mother. I placed it on my desk. 'I miss you mommy. I miss you so horrible much,' I whispered. I shut my eyes for a moment and relived a memory at the lake. As I opened my eyes again, I was back in my room and faced hard reality. Alone.
I looked at the photo of my mother again. A single tear rolled down my cheek plate. I wiped it off and grabbed my notebook from my subspace. I wrote down everything what I overheard. It didn't stop there, I started to look for bots with strange symbols and ask Que about it. They're called Decepticons. That's why they have different symbols on their chassis. I figured not all of them are bad. I focused more on finding out what happened to my mother than my schoolwork and daddy wasn't too happy about it. Windcharge loved to see me upset.
I brushed my tears fiercely off my cheeks and got up, heading downstairs and sneaked out, back towards the streets. I followed a lead I got yesterday. I got a book from the library about hacking and started to teach myself. If I wanted to figure what happened to my mom, I had to gain more information about specific subjects. I tightly held my teddybear as I walked down the street.
To understand more, I had to hack Optimus's computer as well. I had been planning it for a week. Read as many books as possible and even went to a local computer-media shop. They kept asking where my parents were. I am a sparkling, not supposed to enter shops like that. They told me strictly to not touch anything but all I wanted was to know how the software worked. I got a stupid and childish explanation. To get more information, I came with my own questions and that caught them off guard.
I observed people and their reaction. Necessary to read their body language. I pushed open the door of the large building in down town Kaon. 'Are you lost, little one?' The security mech asked. 'No, I am not lost. I have to be here. I am befriended with Jazz and Que,' I said. 'Both aren't here right now,' he said. 'I know. Can I pass? I need to be upstairs,' I said. He hesitated and looked behind him. I took the opportunity to sneak passed him and reach for the stairs. I needed to be brave.
With my teddybear tightly against my chassis, I walked all the way to the top floor. I hid behind a pillar and listened. 'There has been a serious riot, Prime.' I didn't recognize the second voice. I looked at the reflection of the window. A tall mech as well. Optimus got up. He's the largest bit I have ever seen. 'Thank you, Ultra-Magnus. I will inform Prowl and Barricade,' he said. The blue mech nodded and walked off. Optimus sat back down. He's even more intimidating than I thought.
I waited patiently and kept observing him in the reflection. I saved every facial feature he had throughout the hours. That could be helpful later on. A femme strode in. 'You're meeting,' she said. I recognized the femme. Elita-1. Optimus got up and walked up to her. Pressing his forehead against hers. 'What am I supposed to do without you,' he purred. Elita smiled and kissed him before taking him to the nearby meeting room. I quickly jumped out of my hiding spot. It took me a moment before I was able to hack into his system and download all the data.
I still had plenty of times. I had turned up the volume of my audio and was able to hear if someone was coming. I grabbed a few documents, looking through them. I didn't understand all of it. I perked my head up as the door from the meeting room opened and voices came closer. I quickly put everything back before leaving the room. I left the building without any problems and headed home.
I hid every information I got in a box under my bed. 'Mirage!' My father yelled. I walked downstairs and hugged him. He picked me up. 'We are going to eat,' he said and placed me in a chair. Windcharger rolled her eyes at me as I offered her a smile. I quickly looked down and looked at the food on my plate. My mommy is much better at cooking. I slowly ate my food. 'Daddy? When can we go home?'
He glanced at me. 'We are home,' he said. 'No, home. At the lake,' I said. 'We don't live there anymore, Mirage. We love here now,' he stated. 'I don't like it here,' I said. 'You have to get use to it,' he said. 'Mommy said we could go home eventually,' I added. 'Your mother isn't here and your father is. So stop talking about it,' Windcharger said. I glanced at her, taking note of her hostile facial features and posture. 'Why do you hate me?' I asked. She snorted, 'I don't hate you.'
'Yes, I can smell your emotions and feel your hospitality. I can read it off your face,' I said. 'You're wrong,' she said and left no space to argue. That night, I got my mommy's perfume and sprayed it over my pillow and blanket. I curled up against it and shut my eyes, pretending I was laying against my mother. 'I am really trying to stay strong, mommy. I just miss you so much,' I mumbled before falling in recharge.
